Hello i just purchased a PowerMac G5 case for $70 on Ebay....it pretty much has everything except motherboard, ram, hard drive and processors, but everything else is still intact. I am a NEWB at hackintoshing a PowerMac G5 and need some direction. I need a list of compatible parts for the PowerMac G5 hackintosh. Can someone either send me to a link where I can find this or just send me some good startup information..I'm both extremely excited about doing this but also equally nervous!

Any help would be great. thanks!

So you pretty much have an empty box then ?

Firstly what is your power supply is it an ATX for example this will determine what motherboard you can use and whether you need to replace it (Sorry not familiar with a G5)

I would search the forum and the web for complete guides and choose the hardware based on that for instance the lifehacker guide lists a hardware setup and a complete tuturial for installing snow leopard

I doubt you'll find hardware that fits "exactly" in the G5; I've made two, and haven't had that sort of success with either. That's not to say its a difficult process though, all in all its pretty easy. Its just that you won't find much off the shelf hardware that fits Apple's proprietary designs. Anyways, since you are basically making a custom case, any hardware you get will work; that is, because you will make it work. Since you are fabricating how everything from the MOBO on up will fit in the case, anything you get should work.

Jesus, what were the estimated costs for that setup and how does it feel to have godlike amounts of disposable income / time?

hahahaaaa :)

I´ve spent 1100 extra euros for it. I had already everything except the mainboard, one cpu, powersupply, the RAM and the watercooling.......

last year november i didn´t have that much work for a couple of weeks and if you sleep only 5-6 hours a day you have a lot of time for some funky things :(
