I'm running an iAtkos s3 version of snow leopard 10.6.3

I am wondering if its safe to update to 10.6.4 through the system update because when i did on a different version of osx86 everything got messed up and i had to reinstall

if i cant then how can i using a different way? and can i install other updates? (like for iLife)

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 (2.4 GHz)

Gigabyte G41M-ES2H Motherboard

ATI Radeon x1950 pro Videocard

4 GB DDR2 Memory

Why not make a full backup using time machine on an external hdd or usb drive and try it. That way you can always restore the system if you get kernel panic

Is it possible to save the backup on a NTFS partition ?

I don't believe you can I am afraid can you format part of the drive to HFS+ ?

I backup to an external usb with a HFS+ partition and the drive has a second NTFS partition which I use with windows
