this is a long shot in the dark by having a noob helping a noob so lets give it a try! I've been reading a book about hackintoshes by peter baldwin and he suggests using a program called Kabyl Bumby, that worked for me.

Also getting waiting on root device, make sure you have your SATA/IDE correctly set, meaning if you have ACHI mode in your bios, set it to that setting. Sometimes using another install works. Before finding another kernel to use the boot disk that was suggested and you'll get a screen that asks for an option such as using -v, press escape and then you'll get another screen, that is when you swap your boot disk for the particular release/kernel you're using. Let the DVD think, when its done reading, press enter. Now you'll get another screen asking for options, press f8 and use the flag -v. Look for this line, BSDroot: disk1s3 if you get that far, at least you know you're computer is going to accept the hackintosh.

While this helps you or not, that will at least shed some light to some users. Maybe I should do a youtube video? HAHA!
