fregley
I successfully used #####/##### on my laptop. However, since there is no good kext for my video card, I'm trying to use it on an older desktop (an emachines t5224 if you're interested). It's processor is a Pentium D 820 and it has 2 gigs of DDR2 (for additional specs, check http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=T5224 Anyway, I've unplugged all externals, switched to AHCI, etc. The computer boots off of ##### just fine, but when I switch disks and hit f5, the borders just sort of grey out and nothing happens. I've tried this with ##### supported and ##### nvidia, and Empire EFI. What do I need to do?
fregley
Is there a different way to install SL? I seem to be unable to find a guide on insanelymac (sorry, but I have actually looked quite a bit). Is there another EFI I should try? fregley
All right, I think I've discovered the cause of the problem. I used my existing hackintosh to load the install dvd to a flash drive. Now, though the install still doesn't begin, the EFIs don't grey out. When using Empire EFI, I see an error saying that ACPI table was not loaded, or something similar. I assume this means ACPI is not configured right. The problem is, my BIOS doesn't have any options related to acpi. What can I do?? By the way, if it's relevant, I'm using a modified install disk that allows me to install SL on my MBR disk without reformatting into GUID. Also, changed the topic title to reflect my discovery. I hope that this doesn't violate forum etiquette...
