oldtopman
Is there a way to make OSx86 "write" cpus=2 at startup so I don't have to at every startup? Install the latest Chameleon (its the second link). Follow the instructions on post #9 and #11 here. except replace "USBBusFix" with "cpus" and replace "yes" with "2" (no quotes). Pizzajoe
Thanks people the CPU problem is now fixed .. I've heard from one on this forum with a working NVidia GeForce 9600M GS that the only way he could make i was from some kexts from iAtkos v7 Can someone "take" som kexts from that distro and upload it to megaupload or something (: ?? Pizzajoe
Hmm don't know what to do.. I've upgraded to iAtkos v7 with Voodoo 9.7.0 kernel and Chamelion v2.. great BUT i've tried what #13 said = nothing at all And i've tried the GT200 EVGA kext from the distro with the NVenabler from the cd also.. but that just give me grey/black screen after the spinning animation under the apple logo. That must mean that it is installed but something is blocking it ?
oldtopman
Boot in -v.
Pizzajoe
It's working ! iAtkos v7 with Chamelion v2 9.7.0 Voodoo kernel and intel sata/ata chipset For my GFX i chose Natit as my enabler and nVidia GT200 EVGA for the kext - and it's working ! I can't get my WiFi to work but that's not a problem right now but my CPU still {censored}s a bit. when I hit enter at startup and type "cpus=2" without " i boots and runs with 2 cores - but when I add the flag to com.Apple.boot.plist it gives me kernel panic at startup. I have tried in 2 ways the first; <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>custom</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>cpus=2</string> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>No</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> </dict> </plist> That doesn't work so I tried; <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>custom</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>cpus</key> <string>2</string> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>No</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> </dict> </plist> Both methods gives me kernel panic at startup I have to manually type cpus=2 Any one have a sulution ? oldtopman
The spacing looks odd. Are you using [Tab] to make the indents?
Pizzajoe
it dosen't look like that in the file .. its all straight under each. But i've find out that its only sometimes I get the panic. I'm running with; <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>custom</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>cpus</key> <string>2</string> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>No</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>3</string> </dict> </plist> And sometimes its just load perfectly, running with two cores. and other it gives panic. oldtopman
So boot every time with -v until it panics. Then post the results. Or are these panics the same as the first ones?
