64-bit ATI 5xxx

Is there work on a 64bit version of the ATI5xxx from netkas?

Also, what difference if any would this make to those of us who use the 32bit version now.

Is the difference between a 32bit boot and a 64 bit boot solely for increased RAM?

Thanks much for an answer

You guys really don't search do you? I sound like a broken record, but if you search in the Hardware department in the ile just below this one, you will find an answer to your questions under the ATI shelf.

Please search the forum.

Wow,

thanks for the unhelpful reply.

The thread you point to is from Jan and specifically related to the Ati 57xx series.

Around page 10 you see Tmac chime in with the first Ati_5xxx boot disc, 6 months later.

If you actually read my question instead of looking for something to complain about then you'd see that I didn't ask for a way to enable 64bit booting on a 57xx series card, which is the thread that you point to.

I want to know what the difference is between a 32-bit boot and a 64-bit boot. In the boot.plist provided from netkas he says 32 bit only. I wondered what the difference between a 32 bit boot and a 64 bit boot was.

I thought it was a simple question.

To be fair to Jammol the tile of your thread isn't too clear.

And you have asked about 64bit version of ATI_init - Jammol answerd that question, i.e use modefied Chameleon 2 and GraphicsEnabler=Yes as apposed to ATI_init !!

in answer to the 32bit v's 64bit kernel - Again use google and read rather than ask others to answer for you - http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10320314-37.html

This is not a help line for people who can't be bothered to help themselves !

peace out :(

I must attract people who have nothing better to do than write something pointless.

Yeah, since it is a forum... about OSx86... and my question was about something so simple... you are ridiculous.

If you knew the answer it would have been one sentence.

Yes, 64 bit is only necessary for increased RAM.

No, 64 bit is useful for more than increased RAM.

Maybe someone will come along who isn't afraid of answering a simple question without some kind of perverse moral quandary.

Or, maybe not.

If you are so burnt out then stop reading posts, just some advice.

I asked about the boot.plist (arch=i386), not ATY_init, but whatever.

And hey... thanks.

Because, I don't care anymore.

had you bothered to read the article I kindly posted a link to, that I might add you could have easily found yourself by typing "32bit vs 64bit snow leopard" into google and clicking "search", you would have read that the 32 bit kernel in snow leopard has nothing to do with addressing over 4GB of RAM and it is in fact a product of the 32 bit EFI chipset used in older Macs as apposed to 64 bit EFI chipset used on later models.

It's rude lazy idiots like you who have made "this place" less open to offering help!

peace out :)

I CAN SEE FROM YOUR OTHER POSTS THAT YOU ARE CLEARLY JUST A CHILD, SO I'LL GO EASY ON YOU!

HOWEVER:

NO IT WASN'T DIFFICULT - THAT WAS MY POINT !!

WHY THE FU@K SHOULD I (OR ANY BODY ELSE HERE.) HAVE TO RETYPE INFORMATION FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE, FOR A LAZY LITTLE IDIOT LIKE YOU WHEN, IF YOU HAD HALF A BRAIN AND OR A MODICUM OF INTEREST IN THE HACKINTOSH SCENE YOU WOULD HAVE BOTHERED TO FIND THAT VERY BASIC BIT OF INFORMATION OUT FOR YOURSELF BY USING THE MOST BASIC OF INTERNET TOOLS, "A SEARCH ENGINE"!!!!!.

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT SEARCH ENGINES? - MAYBE YOU COULD START A NEW POST TO ASK THE OTHER USERS TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT??!!

IF YOU CONTINUE TO POST RIDICULOUS QUESTIONS WITHOUT DOING ANY RESEARCH YOURSELF YOU WILL CONTINUE TO GET EITHER 'BS' OFF THE OTHER USERS OR NO REPLY AT ALL !!

DOES YOUR TINY BRAIN COMPUTE THIS?!

PEACE (STRUGGLING!) BUT OUT ;)

That wasn't so hard, was it?

Next time, just give the answer without all the other B.S.

Why do you end your posts with peace when you are such an argument?

- Rhetorical.

I think the only appropriate response is, I know you are but what am I?

In all seriousness though, your passive aggressiveness is radiating.

Please don't hurt any small animals.

OK,

thanks for this enlightening discussion.

Now, here is a dog will not let go of his bone.

grrr, grrr.

Did you solve your dilemma?

BTW, it's not a forum rule per se, but it will help out those trying to help you if you post your specs in your signature.

Right, I'll do that.

It isn't a dilemma. I was just wondering what benefit will come to people if they boot using 64bit rather than the i386 line in the boot.plist.

Simple question really.

This being a forum for hackintosh, seems like the right place to ask it.

As far as I know, the only importance about a 64 bit boot is addressing higher than 4GB RAM.

So, if that is all it is then I don't really care about a 64bit boot.

Anyway, if you know what the difference is please do tell.

thanks.
