Homersimpson
Hi there,I'm having the same problems as you did with my saffire!! I just purchased the Saffire interface which I (try to) use with a G4 1.25Ghz DP and Logic 7.0. When I startup my computer the interface works properly and I can hear music from itunes through my monitors. When I start up Logic the connection gets lost and saffire prompts: "Firewire connection lost" or "Failed to boot DSP properly, disconnect, wait a few seconds and reconnect when Line LED-s are green". When I do this Logic tells me the audio device was lost. When I try to restart logic sometimes the computer just crashes completely or sometimes the whole thing starts over again. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone or something...!! I updated to OSX10.4.8, I changed firewire sockets and cables and got the latest drivers for the saffire (v2.2). From my point of view the problem seems to be in the Logic-Saffire connection. When I run Logic it recognizes the Saffire at the audio-prefs window. Also audio-midisetup application is setup correct (clock:device and sample rates 44.1). What's the story on the soundblaster usb package. I just updated to 10.4.8 and there's no option for custom install there?? Any idea's?? Hope you can help!! Thanks in advance, Thomas doctom, I'm not quite in your predicament, but i'm planning to run Logic pro 7, i'm at a point where i could upgrade my G4 800mhz (quicksilver) to a dual 1.8 ghz or upgrade my pentium 4 3.0ghz(with more ram), now my question is: how does logic run on your G4, is it stable, is it fast, can you run many plugs and instruments, do you have an audio card you run with it, etc... any info appreciated, thanks! doobiebro
I have a focusrite saffire too, with the same problem. However, installing USB soundblaster support doesn't work for me, because my USB stops working, and so I can't use my usb keyboard & mouse, any experiences/solutions to this problem? I also have a m-audio firewire 410 which works fine. I use a 673 VIA pci firewire card, could this be it and would a texas instruments solve the problem? demonio
I have no problems with my Fireface800. Just to mention - RME suggests that You use motherboards with Texas Instruments chip as they develop their apps and systems on this kind of chip. Just look here: Tech Info - No VIA or other kind is secure to work without problems. Maybe to buy Dawicontrol IEEE1394b FW800 card for about 60 EUR- it has it. That´s why I bought D975XBX MoBo. P.S. People, attach Your computer configuration info on Your acco0unt setup page - it´s easier for answer the posts.
