This is a guide based on my instalation of snow leopard 10.6.0 on my acer aspire one 532h. While using this guide you should know this is completely experimental and should be used at your own risk. I am not responsible for anything negative you do to your computer.

You will need a flash drive 8gb or higher

Any working mac 10.5 or higher

An image of 10.6 not the latest one

And a USB mouse

First plug in your flash drive into the working mac and open disk utility

Select your flash drive then select partition

In volume scheme select 1 partition

and name it as OSX 10.6 Install

Format it as mac os extended (journaled)

Then click options and select MBR or master boot record

Now verify your 10.6 image

Click images on the top bar then Select scan image for restore.

Select your image then select scan.

After then scan is complete (yes you have to scan the image)

Then click the flash drive and click restore

In the Source navigate to the image you just scanned

Drag and drop OSX 10.6 install into the destination spot

Then click restore this will place the image on the flash drive

Now download the MyHack installer 1.1

Then run the installer and change the installation location to the flash drive

After the installer has finished installing eject he flash drive then plug the flash drive into the USB port closest to the power adapter.

Power on your machine and press f12 to change boot order when prompted to

Choose the flash drive

When the flash drive boots choose OSX 10.6 install

Once the installation loads choose disk utility

Select your laptops hard drive

Then select erase and format your drive as mac os extended (journaled)

NOTE: if you wish to dual boot then you will need to create a partition in windows and format it as NTSC then launch the mac installer and erase ONLY the partition you wish to install OSX on.

After the erasing is done continue with the installation

Choose the partition you wish to OSX on and then click continue

You can choose to customize the instalation by clicking customize and deselecting the language packs and printer support packs

Click continue and wait for the instalation to begin and end.

After the instalation is finished the computer will restart

When the computer reboots you need to boot OSX using the flash drive and selecting the partiton and not the flash drive

Once you get to the desktop screen double click the flash drive and then drag and drop the my hack installer onto your desktop then launch it

Make sure that the instalation destination is your hard drive and not the flash drive

Then click customize and select the following

Com.apple.boot.list

Graphics enabler

Chocolate kernel

Apple ps2 controller

Evoreboot

Nullcpupowermanagement

Sleepenable

Make sure that all others (that you can) deselect are deselected

Run the installer and when it's done reboot and you should be able to boot without using the flash drive

To get wireless you will need to replace the wireless card

I used a dell 1390 broadcom card

I placed the card in the same slot as the atheros stock card and since the black antenna cable is so short it will not reach the card so I just used the white one and it works perfectly. Also the stock slot is for a half card and the 1390 is a full card so I placed the card in the slot connected the white cable then a closed the back cover to keep the card in place. I also upgraded the amount of RAM to 2gb

After all is said and done you will have a basic functioning mac.

QE_CI support is not available

Speakers do not currently work ( trying to figure this one out)

Webcam does work OOB

If you replaced the wireless card before you installed the wireless is working OOB

Keyboard works

And trackpad does as well but only after you install applePS2controller

Audio inputs and outputs do not work

Neither does the card reader have support

I have yet to test the update process so if you want the update badly do this very very cautiously it could screw up your install.

I hope you enjoyed this guide. I will continue to test and try different approaches to get everything working as much as possible. :thumbsup_anim:

Well, i have managed to get sound, and wifi work.

I used the iAtkos S3 V2 release, trackpad & Keyboard works ootb.

Ran the NBI v0.8.5pre, and used the following kExt for wifi:

http://uploading.com/files/94fm2e33/IO80211Family.kext.zip/ ( thx to man_of_the_oak )

Now i have the wifi, sound, trackpad, keyboard, 1024x600 resolution etc. working!

Hope this will help some people. No need to change wifi-card, the AR5B95 works like a charm :)

which driver did you use for the sound? I'm using packard bell dot s2 which is mostly identical. I have correct screen resolution but yet need to get wifi and sound working.

Trying the atheros driver now but would love to know which driver you used for sound.

cheers

I have used iAtkosS3V2 on my 532h as well, and while I got quite a few things working (after a lot of reinstalls) it's not 100% there.

You mention screen resolution of 1024x600. What Customize options did you check to get that. My screen resolution only comes up to 800x600!

I am going to try your suggestion for the WiFi kext...BTW does your wired Ethernet work?

thx

Used Kext Helper b7 and installed the IO80211Family.kext from the link you provided. Reboot, and BINGO! WiFi is now working.

My list of things not working is now down to three things:

1. Wired Ethernet

2. WebCam

3. Microphone

If anyone has any insight on this, I would appreciate any pointers.

If you need to know what options I had ticked in Customize to get to this point, PM me.

cheers

Hey i can't even get mine to boot up,

the installation would be successful but when it restart again it just stuck at boot screen

can u give me a list of customization u checked?

thanks

Patience and perseverance are the keys to this. I think I did about 12 installs (over 3 or 4 days) from scratch before I got it going. Keep notes too!

Whenever you reinstall, make sure you re-partition/format the drive. I used 1 Partition, Extended Journaled, GUID

When you get to the customizing section on SL Iatkos... keep the default items checked

The following items below .. you need to add

BOOT -BOOT

ASEREBLN

BOOT OPTIONS

32BITS

GRAPHICS ENABLERS

ETHERNET BUILTIN

PATCHES

CREATE EXTRA

FAKESMC

DISABLER DISABLED

RTC

KERNELS

KERNEL ATOM

EVO REBOOT

SLEEP ENABLER

UUID

SATA-IDE DRIVERS

SATA AHCI

SOUND

VOODOHDA

PS2

APPLEPS2

POWER MANAGER

VOODO POWER

LAPTOP HARD

BATTERY

VGA

INTEL

EFI STRING

GMA950 27AE

when it restarts you may have to use -v -f to start .. Also be patient!!! Sometimes after install, it will sit at the Apple Logo and the spinny thing for quite a while. Same with restarts after installing kext's. If it doesn't do anything for 30 minutes or more, then I would assume that it didn't work.

After install use kext helper and add the wifi kext and the wired kext

IO80211Family.kext

Atheros L1C Ethernet kext from code.google.com

To get video working in 1024x600 as opposed to 800x600 I used Meklort's NBI 0.8.5 pre and ran it against the boot drive of the netbook. That broke the USB so I used kext helper again and installed the IOUSBFamily kext.

Probably not the cleanest way to do it, but the system seems to be stable. I wish 'meklort' would package / make available the patched GMA3150 kext separately...

Things that are not working - webcam, sleep

Things that are flaky - battery monitor

Same problem here, I'm asked to restate after a boot. I'll keep trying. My net book is 532h-2789, I upgraded to 2gbram. Using giud boot, not mbr. Ive tried a lot of stuff, but I'll have to start keeping notes so I can help you guys out too if I get it working.

I followed the list above. You said to deselect the extra kext disable right? Maybe I'll try leaving them disabled. (checked)
