How does this look?

I'm looking at building my first Hackintosh, and I'm looking for as powerful a system as I can build while keeping costs down and keeping the difficulty of an install to a minimum. I plan to use it mainly for day-to-day stuff and given that I publish a website with video content and a newsletter, I'll need to use Adobe CS5, Office and Final Cut more than anything else.

Anyway, here's what I'm looking at getting:

Gigabyte P55A-UD4P

i5 750

4gb Crucial DDR3

I already have a GTS210, and while I'll upgrade at some point, it's not a priority for me.

I have a Seagate SATA 1.5tb HDD and a WD 160gb HDD

Corsair Obsidian 800D

What do you think? How difficult will my install be? I hear the p55a-ud4p is going to need some patching for the sound to work. How hard will that be?

Not bad at all, but you should try reading the Gigabyte P55 thread before asking anything, and check the OSx86 Wiki (button on the top right part of the thread). Here, folks are bored to repeating the same few things day after day.

I think the only bad news with this MB is that Gigabyte has moved from the ALC889A to 889 (not A), but that should work with VoodooHDA.

PS: If you can afford that kind of rig, the fancy case, BUY AN SSD and data HDD(s) like WD's Caviar Green.

Booting from a standard HD with DDR3 and a Quad, it's like riding in a sports car with a Prius engine. :(

Just to update, install went relatively well. Got a pretty stable install on my 2nd try. Sound and network have been off and on (literally) and I can't understand why. But overall, I'm pleased.

Now on to tackling the sound and network problems...*sigh*
