How to boot with the 10.6.4 debug kernel?

I wanted to use the 10.6.4 debug kernel so I could remote debug a .kext but I'm not sure what I would have to do to be able to properly boot the debug kernel. I'm currently using Chameleon as installed by the updated version of Meklort's NetBookInstaller, and verbose booting leads to just a blank screen after the kernel attempts to boot.

This is on a HP Mini 210 target. Any pointers as to where I might look for guidance? Thanks much!
