Thanks for the kext.

Realtek USB WLAN Client Utility seem to quit as soon as I launch the program. I cannot "see" or join any wireless network because the Client Utility can't be launched.

Is there another application that you're using to select the wireless network?

Not working for me. (Toshiba L455-S5000 internal Realtek 8187B) Fresh install, Chameleon boot: 10.6.0 (will upgrade to 10.6.4 and retry later today)

No visible changes to speak of in the Network prefpane.

Realtek WLAN Client Utility bounces forever and does not launch. But this is actually somewhat encouraging; because in past attempts, it would bounce once and disappear.

@freeworldwide: Perhaps you could describe step-by-step how you got this working? What implemetation of Snow are you using? Did you use the official installer from realtek's website before applying your files (as in a "patch")? How did you install the kext? etc

Sorry about reviving a somewhat dead thread, but for those who are trying this and can't get it to work, try unplugging it and then plugging it back in. At that point it usually works. I actually accidentally discovered that it worked that way.

What I want to know is how do I get ad-hoc working with it? It doesn't detect my ad-hoc networks. I'd like it if AirPort could work with this. I've noticed it is recognized as an ethernet device.
