martin1976
I bought a UPS at Compusa yesterday. I charged the batteries for 8 hours, I connected it to the wall, my Hackingtosh was turned on, the power went out, my Hackingtosh died, I want to die! Aren't these UPS supposed to protect you from these situations? My board is dead! All it does is make a like chirp sound and then nothing! AH!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FUNNY!! I retuned the UPS today. I know I can get my board replaced by these UPS guys (Belkin), but I have to ship my board, the UPS and everything else to them so they determine if the UPS was the cause of the problem! What if they determine it was not? Besides I have to pay the shipping! The UPS is about 40 pounds and the Hackingtosh about 30 or 40 more! Screw them! But even worse, screw me! @#$%%!! Laughs and condolences are welcome, especially the second ones....
gwprod12
Have you made sure it isnt your power supply that's busted? The power supply is supposed to offer buffering for power surges. Reminds me of a time many moons ago. I was offering dial up support. This guy couldnt get on the internet. Spent 2 hours trying to figure it out... couldnt get any solution. Then he says "The phone line is plugged into my surge protector. I had a power surge last night. Could that be the cause?", I said "Maybe, try plugging directly into the wall. He did, twas fixed. Dont assume it's the motherboard without checking the power supply first.
martin1976
I tried three different PS's already... Yep, doomed, finished... Do you think Intel will replace/fix it under warranty?
gwprod12
Warranty usually only covers manufacturers workmanship. so no. Unless you've had it for less than a few days, then you can blame it on them.
U.C.
Yup warranty covers it, if you act dumb and insist that you dont know what happened.
