OK I will try those things. My CPU is showing at 102F which seems OK to me.

I will search for the null file and report back.

Sorry I meant to say I'd be concerned about your CPU temps post removal of appleintelpowermanangement. But I think it is probably wiser to replace it with NullCpu instead.

Hello everybody,

I am an expert PC technician, but this is my first time with a custom Mac install.

I also have the BioStar TH55B-HD motherboard, and and have scoured the internet high and low for ways to get this thing working. I understand most people use the P55 chipset, but some of us just don't need the added expense or features of the P55.

With that said, I don't notice any USB issues at all.

I used the "##### Supported" and Retail 10.6.0 DVD to get the install, then Combo Update to 10.6.3. Each time I update to 10.6.6 I am rewarded with a kernel panic related to IOUSBFamily.kext

With 10.6.3, every thing works absolutely fine out of the box, except for the fact that anytime I try to run #####, regardless of if I have a DSDT (I tried downloading the original one posted, and used some program to convert that to .aml format) or not, I can NEVER BOOT BACK INTO OS X. Another thing that doesn't work is the "Core Audio" for GarageBand

The problem is something that is probably simple to most people, but since most people have the P55 there are some differences that are probably not apparent.

That said, every time I boot my system, I boot with the ##### CD in the drive. All I want to do is boot without that, for a somewhat "vanilla" Mac. To really be slick, I want to be able to copy ##### onto an SD card, make it bootable, and use it as my bootloader.

Any help using ##### for this board is appreciated, as is help updating to 10.6.6, and getting my Radeon 4350 to work....

Thanks to everybody for the countless hours of hard work involved in all this. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say "thank you"

Edit *5/16/11* In response to the original poster; I have no USB issues. In response to the person with the question about the ALC662 audio, my audio works fine out of box, but some programs (i.e. GarageBand) won't recognize my hardware as using "Core Audio". In response to the person with the CPU management issue, I never messed with mine, and everything seems to work fine. I check my temps with the BIOS, and everything looks fine. In response to anyone who can't get their system to boot, I have to use PCIRootUID=1 otherwise I get no video.

I have found NO SOLUTION for the inability to upgrade to 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 without seeing Kernel panics each time. Also, the Intel HD graphics do not have the best kexts available (read: no resolution switching or dual monitor). ##### also does nothing for me, and the bootloader it installs doesn't allow me to boot into Mac without resetting my CMOS values. Each time I boot with it, I have to redo my CMOS settings, and it is very, very frustrating. I have tried downloading and using a DSDT with #####, to no avail; and I have also experimented a little with another program called DTDSE, again, to no avail.

I would not recommend this motherboard and CPU platform for someone interested in unlocking the full potential of what OSx86 has to offer. People seem to have good success with GigaByte boards....

If you know how to get full QE/CI support for my Intel HD graphics, I would appreciate some help. If you know how to update to 10.6.4 or higher without kernel panics, please help me with that also

Just tried updating to 10.6.4, now I cannot boot back into OS X even with -x for safe mode. I keep stopping on a "SAM Multimedia failed READ or WRITE" or something like that.

I had deleted AppleHDA.kext as recommended by the original poster, but I don't think VoodooHDA installed correctly. I needed the IntelATA kext that was also provided, and I put the kexts onto the desktop and ran ##### to install them, then did the combo update. Then I ran #####, selected ##### option, and nothing else except for Flush Caches and Verify Permissions options.

No avail. Any help as to what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Should I update to 10.6.7? Does that have a kext for a Radeon 4350 HD? Should I use a DSDT?

Reinstalled Snow Leopard, downloaded and updated to 10.6.3 with no problem. Rebooted with ##### in drive. If only there was a way to get ##### onto a Bootable SD card.... Anyways, boots fine; ##### installs Chamelion <sic> 2 RC5, but it doesn't seem to boot back into the Mac on its own.

Added in my Radeon 4350HD 512MB in an attempt to get it working on this setup too....

Using Windows program to rip my own DSDT to then install w/ #####, will tell how that works or not

Hello.

I have Biostar TH55XE (+ i3 560, internal graphics, 4Gb RAM) and install MaxOS 10.6 with ##### + Retail SL. It's Ok, but resolutions 1024x768. And with update to 10.6.7 + ##### (without DSDT or with DSDT) I give kernel panic.

successful install with ##### universal+10.6.3 retail disk.

bios:

SATA=AHCI

ACPI Suspend=S3

HPET=Enabled

boot arguments for retail disk and post install:

-v PCIRootUID=1

disk would not boot while connected with HDMI on monitor (voodooHDA gives kp) with ati 5570. used VGA cable okay.

updated to 10.6.7 combo. ran Easy Beast. installed voodooHDA. Ran 11,1 iMac ATI update from ##### for my card. set GraphicsEnabler=no for ATI 5570.

rebooted okay without #####. updated bootloader to latest chameleon revision. updated FakeSMC and plugins for my hardware. all readouts okay with FakeSMC iStat.

now onto DSDT for HDMI audio and patched AppleHDA. hopefully I can use my HDMI cable then. don't want to shell out for a DVI cable.

anyone else have problems with power button not working? assume I need to add it to DSDT.

On your first boot you need to use the "-f" flag. I would use "-v -f -s PCIRootUID=1" Single user mode is important for making sure permissions are set correctly. It will pause during the boot sequence, and give you a > prompt. Type "/sbin/fsck -fy" then after that finishes type "/sbin/mount -uw /". That will finish, then type "logout" to continue the boot.

Also, pretty sure you need the HPET turned ON in BIOS, otherwise you get problems with ElliotForceLegacyRTC.kext I think

everything in order now. this for the th55b and similar boards. DSDT with HDEF patched in for alc662 (made by MaLd0n). use the atteched legacy kext in E/E. then run in terminal

sudo perl -pi -e 's|\x85\x08\xec\x10|\x62\x06\xec\x10|g' /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA

. make sure you delete voodooHDA and have vanilla appleHDA installed. shutdown, reboot, sleep, sound, usb all working. vanilla speedstep works with p/c states=yes in com.apple.boot.plist. used iMac 11,2 in smbios.

thoughts: realized my optical drive was preventing sleep, so i unplugged it. also before this new DSDT i could not use HDMI for my monitor without KP because of voodooHDA on #####. HDMI works now with patched appleHDA and DSDT.

one more thing, it looks like HDMI audio is a pita with ALC662. i'm only using my HDMI cable for video. might try getting audio with my 5570 but it looks like most are successful only with Nvidia cards.

Hi guys,

I have a desktop with:

Biostar H 55HD motherboard

6 GB Ram

using the integrated graphics and a USB dongle for wifi.

I tried installing 10.6.3 using ##### (v2.5) and a retail disk on an external USB 2.5" hard drive, as I dont have a spare PC hard drive to install to, only the one with Windows which I don't want to format. So what I did was this:

Went into BIOS and set

SATA = AHCI

ACPI Suspend type = S3

HPET = Disabled (I couldnt find it as it is listed with its full name)

I booted into retail 10.6.3 using ##### and it loaded up. I then partitioned the external hard drive into 2 partitions and selected GUID table. Then I selected one of the partitions to install OS X and after about 30 min it finished installing. Then I used ##### again and tried to boot into the external hard drive and it just hung at the wheel. I then found how to change the setting in BIOS and enabled HPET and tried booting using "-v -f -s PCIRootUID=1" and got the first screen I'm posting. So then I decided I would try and reinstall 10.6.3, but now it will not boot, it just hangs at a gray screen and when booting using "-v" I get the second screen I'm posting. I had to take the pics with my phone so sorry if they are not too clear.

At the time of installing I was using a USB mouse and a PS/2 keyboard. Don't know if that has anything to do with the problem.

What should I do? Please help me, I'd really like to try OS X in my PC, I've only been able to use 10.5.8 on my Tx 2500z.

I was able to boot using Cpus=1 busratio=23. It seems like it only detects 4 GB of RAM.

What would I need to get better resolution with the integrated card?

I have Biostar TH55XE mobo+ i3 560, SL with integrated card - max. resolution 1024x768. I bought HIS HD5770 and everything was fine - resolution 1920x1080 !
