Hey everyone, I just installed 10.6 to my Dell Inspiron e1505 and I keep getting these damned shut down notices after things like a network file transfer or multiple windows being opened while moving files around or a Growl or Adium transition and even got it once while installing my wifi app until I went into root mode. Honestly I'm at my wits end and I'm really not afraid to say I'm seconds from crying. I just spent all of yesterday trying to figure out the right combo of options to even get this damn install to run. Everything (except flash but, that's another story) works perfectly except the random crashes.

Obviously I can have the unit running long enough to perform what needs to be done so if someone is willing to walk me through this, I will greatly appreciate it. I guess the best place to start is by posting up hardware and kext info. I can use OSX86 tools to generate a hardware list but I totally forgot hot to generate a kext list. BTW if it helps, I used "SnowLeo for Mac OSX86" as my install disc.

OK, here is a TON of info. I hope it helps...

OK I think I found out how to get things working!

1) Install OSX Snow Leopard using the SnowLeo for Mac OSX86 disc. (Under system install, make sure you click Rosetta, X11 and Tools)

2) During step one DO NOT Install any keyboard and trackpad drivers and DO NOT pick any kernels. Install your video driver (Intel) but this will be replaced a few steps later

3) Get a USB keyboard and Mouse and setup your user profile

4) Load up your lappy (laptop) with the iATKOS v7 10.5.6 disc and install the Video (Intel), keyboard and trackpad drivers

5) Reboot and enjoy

6) FYI I got the SD slot working using the Dell Post Installer
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A ) OK I have WiFi working but through my Netgear USB adapter. Let's be honest the internal WiFi card sucks hiney!

B ) I fixed Quartz Extreme by installing the files from this link

LOGIN AS ROOT USER USE THE KEXT HELPER TO INSTALL THE FILES

Well... that's my update for now.
