Pencs
So I have a perfectly working Core i7 Hackintosh - which is exactly why I want to mess with it and upgrade it. Here are the particulars. Gigabyte UD5 Motherboard i7 920 @ 2.7Ghz 12gb RAM Sapphire Vapor-x 4890 (1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x VGA, 1x DP) Samsung P2350 Monitor OS 10.6.2 Here is what I want to change - I want to add a second monitor. At the moment I have the Monitor running through the DVI output on my graphics card, as it is the only output that works. So I am unable at present to run any other monitors off the Card. OPTION 1) Can I get the HDMI port on my 4890 working? If so, how would I go about it? OPTION 2) Can I buy a second, cheap graphics card (say the HD4350?) and then use that to extend the desktop? If so, how would I go about it? OPTION 3) Is there an option 3 I haven't thought about? Thank you in advance for your advice.
abezors
I don't actually have that card, but just a quick few thoughts... You say the other DVI port doesn't work - physically broken or just not recognised in OS X? If it's not physically broken, you *should* be able to enable it. This may take some time customising graphics strings. Alternatively, there may be some DSDT method available. If it's been done before, then you will find a working method either here or other forums/blogs. Indeed, the HDMI output might be enabled the same way (as HDMI is pretty much DVI with sound capability). I had HDMI working on my geforce even though its graphics strings had it specified as a Dual DVI card - so give graphics strings a go and you may be in luck
