I'm choosing between two, does anyone know which is better? Seagate FreeAgent Go 1 TB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive or Western Digital My Passport Essential 1TB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive it needs to be portable and 1TB so these two seem to be pretty good, im not an expert and have no experience with drives of this size. Hey! monogrim7. I've first hand experience with Seagate. Their new policy has some real annoying warranty issues. Firstly, if at all something goes wrong with your drive, you need to download their drive analysis tool. If it can detect any errors, they will fix it or give you a replacement. Duh! Now, if it CANNOT (pardon the caps) then, you are no longer their liability and they will NEITHER repair your drive NOR replace it! Duh! Well, even if it goes "kaput" within fifteen days of your purchase, this holds true. In my humble opinion, you can (and probably should) go in for Western Digital. They have on site warranty, and their drives perform better than the Seagate At least. I have switched from providing Seagate to (.........), to Western Digital.
