Hey guys, I bought an iPod touch and didn't want to buy the apps.

Luckily, a friend of mine, who has pages of apps, she let me transfer them to mine.

This is how:

First off, we will call the iPod that's getting the apps the TARGET. The iPod with the apps already that is the donor, will be called the SOURCE.

Now:

1) Plug the Source iPod into the Computer.

2) Launch iTunes. Don't let it sync.

3) At the top, in "Store", click "Authorize Computer".

4) Now, enter the iTunes Store Account Information in the dialog box. (The iTunes Store Account Login info that all the apps was bought on for the source).

5) Next, all the apps will sync, creating a new "Applications" tab under Music/Videos.

6) After the sync, iTunes will ask for Software Update/Restore/Sync. Do not do ANY of these.

7) Now unplug the source, and plug in the Target.

8) Go to the applications tab, and it will show the apps from the Source. Highlight them all, and sync them to the target.

9) Now don't restore/update. Then, plug out the Target, and plug the Source Back in.

10) In "Store", click "Unauthorize computer" and re-enter the iTunes Store login information.

iPhone Users, whether 1G or 3G or 3GS, you can do this exact same method.

Steps 9-10 are not needed. They are used because a iPod that is the Source can authorize up to five computers, so when you're done with one, you can unauthorize and open up a slot for another computer to sync apps to.

However the next time you sync your Target iPod to a computer, all those apps will be deleted again, especially if you de-authorize the computer. Also, you can't put on any other apps (without removing the others) except ones you install directly from the iPod's store app.

A much better solution is to jailbreak your iPod and patch MobileInstallation.framework. That way you can sync endless apps from any iTunes computer without the worry for authorization at all.

Optionally, you can then install "Installous" app from Cydia, and give your iPod the ability to directly download nearly any app from the App Store, completely for free.
