MODaWii
I am running a windows 7 machine and I do not have access to a mac system. I want to install leopard onto a netbook (without a dvd drive) using an external usb hard drive and I cannot seem to find a way to copy the osx .iso file to my usb drive and make it bootable from windows. Is this at all possible or am I just waisting my time?

MODaWii
transmac doesn't work, it just says my usb drive doesn't contain a hfs partition. The usb drive is formatted to fat32. I can right click the usb drive and choose "Format with Image" but it just says error when I select the osx install image. Also, there are no guides on mymacnetbook that don't require an already running osx system.
Hangten
hfs can be made by using a partitioning program for windows. Personally I would use VMware and a vm image of Leopard or even Snow Leopard found cough cough on a torrent. With this you can configure your HDD or USB in Windows via usb You need to list details of what you do have. This "running a windows 7 machine" doesn't give details. Sorry only trying to help. MODaWii
My main machine's specs: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate intel c2d e7200 4GB Ram Target netbook to install OSX: Acer Aspire One AOD250-1417 Intel Atom cpu 1GB ram I am trying to dual boot windows 7 and osx on the netbook. I don't have an external DVD drive to use with the netbook. All I have is an external usb case with a 10GB IDE hard drive in it. Also, I have a SnowOSX 2.6A iso image that I am trying to transfer to the usb drive so I can boot from it and install OSX on the netbook. The SnowOSX iso seems to be in a UDF format, so I'm not sure that I need to use transmac to image it to the usb drive. I'm trying to use Unetbootin right now and it seems to be working somewhat okay. It is still copying the ISO to the USB drive, but it is very very slow considering it is a usb 2.0 drive so I will wait and see what happens when it finishes. I have not been able to find a snow leopard install iso other that SnowOSX to use so if I should be using something else or another method please feel free to correct me. Hangten
Well I can pictorially show you how to get to the part that will get you up and formatted but mind you some steps will be missing but you can see more or less how its done. With all do respects to Insanelymac and the amount of reading I've done here. Thanks again to all members It will take a bit of time. As i will have to start from scratch and this is how I can do screen captures to illustrate step by step, for what you have to work with. And maybe someone has already been there done that and will post the help.
Hangten
I was thinking you might want to know if your CPU supports "Virtualization Technology" so use this tool to find out. This is necassary so we can proceed in a specific method. This is for your intel c2d e7200. Hangten
"I have tred to boot osx86 disks on my pc but the resoulution is off so i cant see the options or the disk/files dont show to create a backup" Does this mean you have another pc besides your netbook or is the netbook all you have? Unless its optimize for your particular configuration it will never give you working video and if you actually get an image feel lucky. 1st off you have to either configure a working USB drive with a Windows 7 install fully working. So you have a safe way out + you can recheck and change your OSX install in a cinch using Mac Drive and so on. 2nd you need to either yank the SSD or HDD 1.8inch drive and use a USB (aka SATA to USB adapter) and attach as a USB drive to a Mac or the method above using a friends computer. Not sure what keys in your netbook will enable you the boot menu but its either "esc" or "F1-F12" key so you can boot via USB I only played with a DELL mini 10 so not sure what yours is capable of. Remember also there are incompatible kernels for atom unless you get the modified kernels for later Snow Leopard updates. {censored} i would even walk into a store ask if i could format my USB via Mac (Best Buy or where Apple's are sold)! Never hurts to just ask. At MicroCenter I play on there Mac's and they are so friendly to people.
