Cartri Volume Icons Pack

Trying to unwind a little, I created this weird complementar sollution to those who doesnt want to have orange icons but also doesnt want to install a kext for this. Or for those who uses more then a single OS, or even for who would like to se the white leopard on their home disk for some kind of identification or changing airs...

Its not a final solution for the Orange Icon problem in hackintoshes of course, but i always did think "whats the difference about having 5 identical orange icons or having 5 identical grey icons on my desktop?" I actually think the external icon looks even more modern...

So as I was saying, i was trying to unwind and done this Volume Icon Pack for OSX, with these simple images you will be able to personalize your volumes with the OSs you have on them. it looks like this:

cartrivolumeiconspackpr.png

And its available for download here: DOWNLOAD

The instructions are inside the Pack for those who doesnt know how to make it work.

Its a builtin feature of OSX itself, so will work on real Macs too. Its just "Yet Another Icon Pack" I guess.

As you can see I had more patience with Snow and Windows 7 Icons then with XP and Linux ones... but its still useful for me to identify the disks by the icon. Sorry designers if i made it too ugly for you to use, but i think its quite usable.

Maybe i can pick another day to make it look better, but for now i guess it can help.

:)

Actually you don't have to install any kexts to fix the orange icons, you can simply replace the icons by copying the following into terminal:

mv /System/Library/Extensions/IOStorageFamily.kext/Contents/Resources/External.icns /System/Library/Extensions/IOStorageFamily.kext/Contents/Resources/External.icns.back

cp /System/Library/Extensions/IOStorageFamily.kext/Contents/Resources/Internal.icns /System/Library/Extensions/IOStorageFamily.kext/Contents/Resources/External.icns

(you have to be sudo in order to do this)
