I made a backup with SuperDuper and rebooted into the drive and did the update.

Everything seam to work fine except my USB mouse is no longer working. Since I had no mouse I could not browse around so I rebooted back to my 10.6.2 drive.

Could there be USB problem with 10.6.3

Cheers

remove applehpet.kext from s/l/e or make sure you have hpet disabled with dsdt, either works fine.

i have lost native NTFS write support, and double checking /etc/fstab in terminal confirms it's still enabled...sucks have no clue what to do about that, but it's straight up not working...

Hi there, can you please share me the dsdt file? And I got KP, it seems due to SleepEnabler and... why do you need VoodooHDA kext since 888 works with LegacyHDA?

GA-P35-DS3L

Speedstep (DSDT)

GeForce 9400 GT (DSDT)

SATA ,USB, ... (DSDT)

FakeSMC, OSXRestart, VoodooHDA (Extra)

Updated without any problems

ALC888 no longer works with LegacyHDA after update, you have to edit AppleHDA binary and replace 8508EC10 by 8808EC10. Here is the modified kext http://www.mediafire.com/?kjxxm4whdzu

About SleepEnabler, remove it and install 10.6.3 version http://www.mediafire.com/?jzjz0izwm23

Hi,

Install 10.6.3, reboot and add last qe_ci_exotic 10.6.3 pkg from netkas for HD 4890 1Go .

Reboot again but the desktop is corrupted and unusable ! fallback to -x :-(

Any solution ?

UPD: i need to add hd4890 ids in info.plist of /s/l/e/ati4800controller (seems that netkas forgot them :-/)

reboot and desktop is back !

Boot into single mode with -s from Chameleon bootloader

Enter 2 commands from instructions on the screen

cd /System/Library/Extentions

mv AppleHPET.kext AppleHPET.bak

reboot

Done

Still can't type in Single User mode. :D

this is such a messed up error, the ports work and I can mount thumbrives, but not my keyboard and mouse?! Very odd... Wonder if it's an issue with Apple branded keyboards as well...

In case AppleHPET cause your USB mouse unavailable, if your USB keyboard is not working then I think you could boot into Windows and install MacDrive so you can delete AppleHPET.kext from Mac HDD

Has anyone using a pentium D tried the update? Wondering if the legacy 10.6.2 hacked kernel will work with this update or if we need to wait for a hacked 10.6.3 kernel.

I think it should work for you because I am using Intel Pentium 4 630 HT and using patched kernel 10.6.2 from Pcj

Backup your kernel sudo cp mach_kernel mach_kernel.bak

Download 10.6.3 Combo update

Install 10.6.3 Combo update

DO NOT REBOOT

replace 10.6.3 Vanilla kernel with the kernel you backup above

I've tested that 10.6.2 patched kernel can be used for 10.6.3

http://rapidshare.com/files/365667843/Kernel_V1.0.zip

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CNB9B4HS

System.kext inside I think is not necessary ( I don't use this kext )

I have trouble with 10.6.3

Because there is no 64-bit version of GMA950 in 10.6.3 so I've copied and used 64-bit 10.6.2 however it seems QE/CI is not yet actived in 10.6.3 even I got native resolution 1920x1080

How do I enable QE/CI with GMA950 on 10.6.3 in 64-bit mode ( drivers are from 10.6.2 )

Please help Thanks

I did that with no such luck. I'll just replacing the extensions folder with my old folder from 10.6.0

D.

You mean a legacy that doesn't need an edited kext?

The modified kext works for me (Aspire 5920), but I still need the legacy kext I used in 10.6.2.

Renamed and then eventually moved that .kext from the folder (did not yet delete it, but did not put it in the Extensions folder) but I am still booting up and then losing the ability to type. Luckily I have a broken PowerBook G4 sitting alongside that I can still somewhat use.

I can't even try and see if anything fails, as soon as it appears to "load" everything in Chameleon, it just zooms by until it eventually boots.
