An O2 customer service rep just phoned me and offered me an upgrade on my iPhone 3G, I said I didn't want to renew  my contract because I want to start a new one when the new iPhone comes out in June/July. He said to me that there wont be another new iPhone out until next year!

Was this the truth? Or was he just trying to get me to upgrade?

That does not mean he was telling you the truth. After all he was trying to sell you some thing.....
Only time will tell and it is only 2 months away so it will be worht waiting for.....

I very much doubt some telephone sales schmuck knows more then the rest of the world.  Now if you spoke to say the president of your mobile carrier MAYBE he/she might have some info.  As of right now there is no confirmed date as to when the new iPhone will be released, just a lot of speculation.

I would take that with a huge pinch of salt, he will just say that so that he can make a sale. Once he's made a sale he won't care what happens to you in terms of a new iPhone being released.

I can't wait for the 4G, it's supposed to be out in June, but either way only time will tell my friend.

reminds me of when i first signed up with nextel, the i90 was best phone they had at the time, I asked both telesales and in store reps multiple times if there was anything better on its way, they all said a definitive "no". I bought the i90 and 2 weeks later the i95cl came out with color screen and all lol. they don't want you to wait, they want to sell you a phone asap.

Always get these people's names and take them to task. Threaten to leave the network provider etc. Always works. :-)
