I have installed OSX 10.6.3 on Acer R1600. They way I used to install is little different. So, I will give you how to patch it first.

1. get patched kernel from: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=197020 (first post, 64bit and 32bit one)

2. Use SleepEnabler from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196466 (/E/E)

3. Use NullCPUManagement (/E/E)

4. Use fakesmc from http://netkas.org/?p=338

5. OpenRestartShutdown

6. Use patched Chameleon from: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=216726

7. DSDT: patches: Most regular patches like: CPU alias (remove CPU alias), HDEF patch (rename HDAC to HDEF) but leave PinConfigurations as empty (check this post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...&p=1477487), RTC fix, EHCI clock-id patch.

8. use "GraphicsEnabler=yes", "USBLegacyOff=yes", "EthernetBuiltIn=yes" in your com.apple.Boot.plist

9. Backup your original AppleHDA.kext from /S/L/E and replace it with patched version from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1477487.

The way I install is I install it to an extern HD from existing OSX first, apply all the patch, attach it to R1600 (eSATA), make sure it works, and then install it to R1600 internal HD.

Things work: All (include 32bit/64bit, sleep/wakeup, card reader, USB ... ...). Press power button will make it sleep. Press any key will wake it up.

Things not work: The things may not working very well are:

1. Boot time a little longer than I expect, but still in acceptable range (30-45 seconds I think)

2. External USB wifi adapter. After wake up from sleep, I can see adapter from system profile, but Airlink101 monitor cannot open. This probably USB wifi adapter issue or software issue, not USB port issue. unplug and replug make it work again. USB keyboard and mice has no issue. I tried plug in USB drive after wakeup, system recognized it.

3. Hardware acceleration on H.264 not working. Apple said 9400M should work, but it not working on R1600. Possible reason is R1600 using ION LE, ION has device id 10de:087d, but ION LE has 10de:087e. So it's not real 9400M. I don't have ION (Acer Revo R3610 for example), so I don't know if it works on any other ION based osx86. I'm looking for 9400M ROM to give it a try, but I doubt that will work.
