Partition Problems

I have installed OSX 10.4.6 (hotiso). When I setup with it as being the first primary partition it boots and everything is great. I need to dual boot. I used 10.4.1 and used chain 0 to boot into osx. I tried that with 10.4.6 but it will not boot when it is the second partition but primary.

IE:

Works:

OSX Partition 1 Primary Type

Windows will not boot

Worked with 10.4.1 but not 10.4.6

Windows Xp 40 GB partition

OSX 20 GB partition.

Is there a secrect to getting osx to work as a second primary partition?

Thanks,

My 1st HDD looks like this:

1. windoze XP on a 39GB primary partition (NTFS)

2. OS X on a 37GB primary partition (HFS ext) This is the active partition.

I use Darwin bootloader to dual boot (with OS X being the default system). Works in 10.4.1, 10.4.3, 10.4.5 and 10.4.6.

Every time I want to reinstall windoze, I hide the 2nd partition (using Partition Magic bootable CD).

Everything else is secret, of course... :o

How do you make OSX (Darwin) the boot loader? WHen I install after windows I just get the windows loader. Chain0 does not work on it and I can set OSX as the default partition manually in windows but then I just freeze on boot. I get a blue screen with a mouse(not really a freeze as the mouse moves).

At least are you sure that your OS X is running?

I can't recall now if OS X installer makes the hfs+ partition active during the installation (I think it does though...), but to play safe you should make it active before. When you install OS X, Darwin bootloader should be installed too and there's no need for any other tweaking.
