I've just got to step 13 and ran into a problem. The USB was bootable but then not recognised by Chameleon. I investigated further and I found my most hated problem. the usb had "magically" changed to 'windowssupport' luckily i've got another hackintosh lying around

Just wanted to note this. Maybe I did something wrong, not really sure. I'm gonna start again fresh with my fingers crossed!

EDIT: Just started from scratch but skipped over step 11 (Repair USB with Disk Utility) and it booted! only thing is trackpad don't work but thats no biggie. 33 Mins to go!

Oh 4 got to add, i had to boot verbose as the screen wen't grey. I suspect if i was a little more patient it would of booted but oh well, it worked!

Just wanted to report a minor issue. Hotkeys are doubling. For instance, I can't disable sound because if I press it once it registers twice, if that males sense :D

Anyway, No biggie. Just wanted to give a heads up.

P.S. LOVING LION!

to backup i recommend carbon copy cloner or apple time machine this two application can only backup your data but not bootloader.

Yeah I was thinking that too but upon looking inside the new /Extra folder the AsusHotKeys.kext is absent. I'm guessing due to KP. I'm only making an educated guess as I installed this kext on my 1005HA and it caused KP. Not really sure of a solution.

Hi Crazyjuice,

I have followed your guide but come to a situation and would seek your advice. I have successfully built the usb key, install on on 10.6.8 and restart.

I got kernel panic that saying SleeperEnabler caused exception. Then, I inserted pmVersion=0 and the system would boot but wait endlessly

nspace-handler-set-snapshot-time: 1312502608

Do you have any hint to resolve that? Thank you for your help.

I completely removed the Extra folder on harddisk and replaced it with the Extra folder(v3.0) that downloaded from your guide.

The kexts inside Extra are

AnyCardReader.kext

ApplieACPIBatteryManager.kext

BroardcomUSB270Injector.kext

CPUIDOverride.kext

CPUIDSymbols.kext

EvOreboot.kext

fakesmc.kext

IOWMIFamily.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

PlatformUUID.kext

VoodooPS2Controller.kext

Thank you for your help!

I have tried every solutions that I can find in internet but in vain. Finally, I install the system again using the USB key and it works.

do not use the Update downloaded via Apple's website. Use Software Update, worked for me.

My next step will be to update to LION tomorrow. I think this makes the 1201n even a better machine. ;)

My next step will be to update to LION tomorrow. I think this makes the 1201n even a better machine. ;)

I do not want to discourage people from trying/upgrading to Mac OS X 10.7. However 10.7 on 1201N is currently not in a quite usable state. This is my experience/observation so far with 10.7 after using it for more than a week.

I did a fresh install of Mac OS X Lion using Crazyjuice guide and booting in 64bit mode on EeePC 1201N. I have 4GB RAM, Wireless working (DW1510). Using Chameleon 1203 on a MBR partitioned disc.

I have noticed that the Lion is terribly slow and lagging, compared to blazingly fast Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
The only app I could use so far is safari even that is crawling :-( . Basically, every application is running much much slower, launching couple of apps soft hangs and I have to wait till the spinning rainbow wheel goes away. After installing Lion, it's like I have gone back in time to when I saw a sluggish PC with Windows! :-(

I have also observed lot of IO(disk) activity happening in background. Initially I thought it is due to the spotlight indexing. However this is going on and on even after a week of usage. The graphics is not as smooth/fast as it is in Snow Leopard. Lion is always hungry for CPU/Memory and does a lot of IO. Activity monitor show all CPU cores are busy doing something.
The CPU percentage is showing 116% in one of the cores. looks like it is not showing correctly.

Also the ASUS 1201N BIOS (326) needs to be reset everytime the OS X Lion is rebooted.

The current state of Lion on 1201N is like a working prototype.

I hope 10.7.2 update may fix some of the issues. So stay with the fast Snowleopard 10.6.8 for some more time before planning for an upgrade, may be till 10.7.2 is out :-).

My two cents.
