I've got a XPS 410 running fine, but my XPS 420 has a issue installing a Virtual Machine like Windows XP, and I assume other OS's. During the boot process of the VM it seems to work for a few seconds, hang, then continue to burst on and off eventually getting to the point where it starts to install.

I've attempted adjusting the CPU's, Memory allocations as well as disconnecting the Sound, Network and other USB devices but nothing I do corrects the intermittent behavior.

The XPS 410 I have loaded up VMWare fine, and installed XP flawlessly. Both are using a similar configuration so I'm lost as to what the diff would be. I actually used the working image of that machine to get my 420 working.

Virtualization is turned on in the BIOS

Both machines in AHCI (RAID) mode

XPS 420 is running great other than this. Example of its behavior is getting to 25% on the boot screen and then hanging for a minute or more. One of the CPU's is spiked at 100%. It will sometimes get to the part where it starts to load the Boot screen, then hang again for minute(s).

Any thoughts appreciated.
