Updated my PC to 10.6.2 but still cannot boot normal can only boot in safe mode

Now it does not just stop on the ACPI line it added another line FakeSMC: Key not found BEMB, length - 1

Also I see another line on up in the boot process AppleUSBUHCI [0x5515000]:start unable to initalizeUIM

Here is the log file for my PC if it will help

Fix my issue

After doing more reasearch

I found this download

http://www.freshwap.net/mac-applications/6...3.0-macosx.html

I downloaded this file has kexts for both leo and snow

Installed some missing kexts and ran the kext utility inside this pack it rebuilt all my extension packs and I rebooted and now I can boot normal

the download is on hotfile and is 690 mb it is in .dmg format so if you can boot into safe mode you should be able to resolve your issues hope this helps you I know it helped me

Hey Billy,

which kext fixed your problem ? do you have installed all kexts from the 690 MB Image ? NO

Thx a lot

No I did not install all of them One I had to install was the GMA950.kext the others I installed was based off my hardware ID's the file just is a good source of kexts files The kext utility in the apps folder is what fixed all my permissions. I used the SLv3 installer to load 10.6 and then installed My Hack boot loader and install the various .kexts.

  • 5 weeks later...
  • 7 months later...

I have a nicely working 10.6.4 install on a P5Q Asus with a Q6600 CPU and 8800GTS video. Bios is 2002 by Juzzi.

It works well, but being a 'tinkerer' by nature I really wish I could get rid of these two error messages which appear in the kernel log

** AppleSMBusPCI::start failed to get acpi path for provider

and

ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out

I've removed the appleintelcpu management kexts and rebuilt the cache. I've made sure the dsdt is patched and all looks good in the ioregister.

I'm only running the following kext in /extra/extensions:

fakesmc, nullcpupowermanagement and OpenHaltRestart

But yet these error messages still torment me - must be my OCD !

Any suggestions ?

Tim
