hello all, i've been reading through this topic for the last 48 hours and still cannot get my card to work fully 100%

I have an XFX 9400 GT 1gb. on 10.5.6 ideneb

basically, the only way i can get the card to work is by REMOVING NVDAResman.kext . Without this file i can boot successfully BUT i cannot change the resolution nor do any other resolution options show up.

When i boot with this file, the system loads but i get the black screen after apple logo. i have tried swapping the display A and B as i use DVI not VGA but still no luck.

I figure this NVDAResman file is linked to the RESolution in some way so i'm looking for another solution to the black screen problem.

Thanks to anyone who can help

duufy

I'm also using 9400GT on DVI with iDeneb 10.5.6, the only solution I found to make my card work was to reinstall iDeneb and on the video driver option I selected all the NVInject kext (don't select anything else just NVInject if you do it won't boot up... ) then after the installation was done I booted up with -v -f on darwin and voila everything works.. LOL

Only problem is that my video chipset still says "Graphics by NVIDIA"

QE/CI/Quartz GL all working

Graphics are now "bearable"

could you tell me how you got QE working plz

And when i get back from my grandmoters in 2 hours i will work on the kext's for you and i will send them to you to try

Hi all

i've tried the link on first page, without success.

I have a Point of View DVI-VGA 1Gb 9400GT Board.

After installing kext I have to manually remove NVDAResman.kext because I get an "OUT OF RANGE" message from mi monitor.

I cannot get QE/CI working, and on "About this mac" it recognizes only 512Mb of VRAM.

My dev-id is 0641, any help will be very appreciated (I spent last few days on getting this damned board working correctly...)

Thanks all!

are mine good enough? call of duty 4-mac native runs smooth enough to play with "optimized" settings. i have an efi string, nvcap set and NVDANV50Hal.kext and NVDAResman.kext and thats all. i too think i should run a bit faster however, but still maybe it's just my wishes, the thing is, it's a low end card

these are my results with quartz2d enabled:

Quartz Graphics Test 147.41

Line 157.15 10.46 Klines/sec [50% alpha]

Rectangle 133.98 40.00 Krects/sec [50% alpha]

Bezier 75.80 1.91 Kbeziers/sec [50% alpha]

Text 440.32 27.54 Kchars/sec

OpenGL Graphics Test 141.41

Spinning Squares 141.41 179.39 frames/sec

User Interface Test 234.89

Elements 234.89 1.08 Krefresh/sec

it seems that enabling quartzGL(2d) slows down the opengl in tests(since it renders everything, even the xbench itself) but in real world GUI is more snappy. still any thoughts about changing the model name? any smbios would do the trick?

I've got my 9400 GT fully working with CI/QE now thanks to tips from Fireofanor, Taz, and most importantly Aqua-Mac who's created an installer with the latest Apple nVidia driver release that updates drivers for the new cards/GPUs. That is the key.

Short guide on how I did it:

1) Download and install Aqua-Mac's nVidia driver installer. Don't think you need to remove exisiting nVidia kexts. Don't reboot yet, though installer will ask you to.

2) Remove NVinject, kext and NVkush.kext if you have them installed.

3) Create EFI/GFX string in com.apple.Boot.plist as suggested in previous posts. I find the easiest way to do this is via OSX86Tools.

a. Use Add EFI Strings/Boot Flag on main menu. Select GFX strings option.

b. Scroll to bottom of list, select Custom nVidia GeForce.

c. For name model enter "NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT".

d. Select the amount of memory on your card.

e. Select the display output that matches your card. For my PNY Verto, it's dual DVI-I ports.

f. The plist info and hex string for your card will pop up. Select and copy the hex string for safety, but use the "Import String to Boot Editor" option. Click Apply Change on the next screen that pops up, no need to add other flags or strings.

4) Use repair disk permissions and clear kext cache on OSX86Tools main menu or do this any way you like.

5) Check the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist file for safety sake using terminal and nano or vi just to make sure the string was inserted properly. If not, use the version you copied to the clipboard and add the "device-properties" key and value manually. (Sudo to edit file.)

6) Reboot and enjoy the results! No mods to driver kexts with device ids or anything else is required.

Thanks a lot for sanssome's guide, I followed the guide and got it working without any trouble. The only thing is though my card is VGA+DVI configuration, I had to choose 2 DVI-I in OSX86Tool, otherwise it doesn't work. There are 2 options in OSX86 Tool, 1) VGA+DVI or 2) DVI+VGA, maybe I chose the wrong one, but didn't brother trying another option once I got it working. I connect my monitor through DVI btw.

you guys rocks! this fourm rocks :D

Any one got this card?

MSI 9400GT?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127412

Will this work?

I asked the similar question before (#90 post on this thread), but in the end on one can really answer for you until you try yourself. So try it and see how it goes or just stick with the card that someone got it working in the earlier posts.

I took the risk and my Sparkle 9400GT 512MB worked flawlessly, guess I got lucky :)

What method did you use? Custom EFI String?

Has anyone tried "Macbook Pro Latest Drivers" in iPC to get 9400GT working? :)

oh and also if you download xxx_Leopard_10.5.6 it has a nvinject driver included in it that will work with 9400 GT's without having to edit kext's

What are the exact packages I need to select when installing XxX to get the 9400 GT working? I have an ASUS EN9400GT but when I install the package given earlier in the thread, it just freezes before launching the Login window. I'm using DVI and don't have a VGA cable to test out if VGA works, but swapping A/B doesn't work, just freezes still. My DevID is 0x064110de. I'm pulling my hair out over this

You mean black screen?

If so, try various settings during EFI string: DVI/VGA or DVI/DVI

Yes, sometimes it's a black screen. Usually what happens is one of two things, depending on which combo of Kexts and Drivers/EFI I'm using:

1.) The Apple screen/verbose console text sits, continuing to load until eventually the screen flashes black for a split second and whatever image was on the screen prior to the black flash stays frozen. It doesn't sound as if Leopard is continuing to load.

OR...

2.) The system seems to load, but again hits that black flash, and then the picture that was previously on the screen comes back for a second, then the screen goes black. I'm not positive, but it SOUNDS like the system might be loading fine in the background, there's just no picture on screen.

Again, I have no VGA cable to test out the VGA connection, but I've tried the NVCAP that is given to my by dumping the BIOS using NiBiTor/NVFlash and using NVCAP Maker 1.4 in addition to trying the NVCAP for DVI/DVI in osx86Tools. This is my exact card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121292

I'm using XxX Final. I'm thinking about grabbing XxX Final v2 since it seems to have more nVidia drivers, but I didn't see the 9400 listed when I looked at the screengrab of included patches, which is why I asked for the exact settings. Could anyone help?

You could try without any video driver fresh install (works perfect for me) just put EFI string with uInstall (choose CUSTOM in graphic cards) and for me works if I choose VGA+DVI other combinations I have black screen too.

I used http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...mp;#entry936418 v2.

For EFI string, I could post it, but I really suggest you to try it yourself, so that you gain the experience in EFI STUDIO. I used "nVidia GeForce 9400 GT" and DVI/VGA. (First, install drivers, but donot restart )

Reply to this post when it works
