I had tiger 10.4.11 running well in my T40 with intel pentium m 1.5ghz but after I upgrade the cpu to intel pentium m 1.86ghz, it won't boot and stuck at BSD root message.

After the upgrade, win xp and gentoo linux run without any problem and only osx tiger broke. Is there any easy fix without reintall? I can mount the osx hfs+ partition in the linux, should be able to modify files.

Thanks for the help!

I compared the system.log and the verbose boot message and found that there is an extra line, "HPET is Enabled", after the cpu upgrade and boot with -d said "init dead".
