After 10.6.8 successfully update where only audio needed to be patched, I’ve decided to give

the Lion GM a try.

I followed MaLd0n´s guide:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256729

Using external USB hard disk instead of USB drive I’ve done a fresh install on one new 180GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD connected over USB Sharkoon docking station. Everything went fine until I installed Extra Lion Package, but I didn’t install Chameleon because I have it already on my first boot Snow Leopard HD and it’s the one from MaLd0n´s Post.

First problem occurred after installing “Extra Lion” Package and rebooting in installer USB:

“Mach_kernel cannot be found”

So I´ve booted in Snow Leopard and copied Mach_kernel and Extra directory into the root of

installer USB. That solved the first problem, but the second one was the one MaLd0n mentioned:

• If you have problems in installation with the message "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer", replace the file "OSInstall" in the folder System/Installation/Packages by this...

OSInstall.zip ( 654.04K ) …”

After replacing OSInstall Package everything went well and fast. After 15min I booted in the Lion but without graphics acceleration and low res. Following last MaLd0n´s steps, installed Extra directory with appropriate Kext’s using iMac 11.1 identifier and created new DSDT for my System. After second boot Lion came up after 20 spinning circles in Full Res. & Graphics acceleration! Everything was installed except of Audio. Little bit patching and audio was solved, too. On the end I´ve installed the Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Driver and USB 3.0 Lacie kext (Patched by Modbin!) and I can confirm that work with my USB 3.0 Sharkoon docking station!

Last step was to build my Lion SSD in and connect over SATA controller. After that my Lion booted in 9 spinning circles 100% completed! App store works, internet over Airport very fast! I must say that I am booting in 64Bit mode as default and after first tests everything working stable and fast. OpenGL and Geekbanch 64Bit are a little bit higher as of Snow Leopard. I will post the Test results soon….

Thanks to MaLd0n and other Guru’s who helped make our dreams come true!

I forgot to mention:

After successfully Lion GM install on my system I have downloaded the newest Contour driver for OS-X Ver.2.21:

http://retail.contourdesign.com/?/products/23

Install my 64Bit ContourShuttle.Kext :

http://www.kexts.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=323

And can confirm that works perfect under Lion 64Bit! Tested with FinalCut-X (Recognized as FinalCut7, but fully working!), iMovie 11, Premiere CS5.5 (Recognized as CS5, but fully working!)

Second, installed Little Snitch Nightly Build for Lion:

http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/download-de.html

And can confirm that works without problems.

Cheers

Next steps:

1. Tried to enable native NTFS read/write support in Lion according to this article:

http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?stor...&query=ntfs

but without success!

2. Tried to activate Trim support for SSD using the same way as for Snow Leopard, also without success!

3. Noticed that after applying USB 3.0 Lacie kext (Patched by Modbin!) when I mount HDD over USB3.0 Sharkoon

docking station, my Airport (BCM4311) goes slow! Did not tried LAN over Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Driver yet!

Will do it next days...and report it here, off corse.

I am making some performance Tests.....results here:

Further Tests:

Yesterday I´ve played with Model identifier changing smbios.plist for MacPro4.1 instead of iMac11.1 and all Tests showed similar results. I noticed only one cosmetics failure:

post-292451-1310584399_thumb.png

About My Mac saying: MacBook Air! I don´t know is it coming from SN or elsewere?

Successfully installed iState Pro as a Dashboard Widget. To be able to see Termal sensors and Fans, i needed to

delete FakeSMC.kext (without Plug-ins) from Extra/Extensions and install new FakeSMC.kext with Plug-ins ins

System/Library/Extensions directory. Repaired permissions on Lion, cleaned the Cash with Coctail 5.0 Public Beta,

and rebooted.

Instead of 7 spinning wheels with FakeSMC in Extra, now takes it 10 with new SMC in S/L/E! Presume, because of loading additional Plug-ins.

Installed MacBlu-ray Player V1.0.0 and Plex Streaming Server without problems.

I am installing Remote Buddy right now and wont to test my IrC infrared receiver OVU4003 with Apple Remote...

let´s see...

Next:

- Successfully enabled Trim for SSD with the new Trim tool V1.2:

http://www.groths.org/?p=387

- About wrong Model name showing in "About my Mac" I can definitely tell that depends on your SMBoardProductID and

SMSerial in your smbios.plist. I found appropriate Serial number for MacPro 5.1 Mid2010 and now it shows right.

Try to Google for yours or create your own according to Prasys´ Blog:

http://prasys.info/2009/11/understanding-mac-serial-number/

additional link to find appropriate SMBoardProductID for your System:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1594721

- Installed Remote Buddy successfully and my IrC infrared receiver OVU4003 working perfect with Apple Remote now.
