Mike123789098765
I have a couple questions regarding xGrid which I cannot seem to find a clear enough answer by googling.... Heres my scenario, If I have a number of different servers providing various service over a network, for example a directory server, file server, mail server, database server, dns etc all running the xgrid client and a an xgrid controller of course... Can I use xGrid to utilize additional processing resources? IE if my mail server(s) is maxing out its processing resources yet my file servers and directory servers are all running say at 15% usage will xgrid allow for me to utilize there remaining computational power is it a "job only" type system where I manually assign a BLAST job or MandrelBot Map to the controller and it then distributes the work? I find xSan to be very effective in maximizing storage resources across a SAN by clustering various drives, so I guess I'm wondering if there is a way to maximize computational power for providing network services. Also in this scenario lets assume all of the servers and RAID subsystems are communicating over dual 4Gb/s FC or better yet dual 10Gbe to maximize data throughput. Any suggestions on how to acheive the end result that I'm looking for here would be very appreciated. -Mike
