[WIP] Worms Armageddon unoffcial Cider Port

Worms Armageddon:

Worms Armageddon is an artillery game/turn-based strategy game developed by Team17 and part of the Worms series. The player controls a team of up to eight worms in combat against opposing teams.

 

I bet allot of former Windows gamers played this game as kids on Windows.

Popular game.

 

Why the port?

On their official website, Hyperion Entertainment, known for their AmigaOS, Mac OS X, and Linux game ports, claimed to have acquired the license to port Worms Armageddon, but it was never released by Hyperion as of yet.

 

System Recommended Requirements:

IBM PC Intel Pentium 150Mhz+ and compatibles.

64Mb System RAM.

8x CD-ROM or faster.

 

Microsoft Windows 9x/ME. (Win2k/XP with v3.0.5.0 update)

 

SVGA.

4Mb Video RAM.

1 CD per machine for Multiplayer Mode.

 

Soundblaster (16-bit) and 100% compatibles.

Network Card.

Modem.

Introduction

Hi guys!

I want to be able to play Worms Armageddon on OSX.

I have played Spore and the unoffcial HL2 cider port and I really liked the results.

I'm a new to porting and hope that you guys can provide information for this.

I followed a very simply guide provided with the Cider download file.

Porting Part 1

1.Installed Worms Armageddon from an old .iso file I made as a kid for deamontools in Windows. The install was made in Windows 7 RC.

2. Patched with Official patch

3. Installed new upgrade, graphics pack and v 3.6.28.0 Official Cyber Shadow Beta Version

4. Ran game...works without any problems on Windows 7.

 

5. Made a logo from This Png file and http://iconverticons.com/ = .icns for the Resources folder & Finder ready file for the actuall cider app.

 

6. Copied the Game dir. straight of the windows laptop and put in in the cider cabin.(./Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/)

 

7. Edited the Info.plist

Test 01 - FAIL

This is with the .iso file burned to a CD (same disc that worked for Win7)

I mounted this in the ordernary cd tray (I have two)

Ran app.

 

Promt messeges:

Language check i suppose? What is this?

 

I have no clue what so ever what this is.

 

It does not seemed to recognize the disc.

 

 

Test 02 - FAIL

Mounting .iso file with toast titanium 9. I learned somewhere that checking the iso file as writeprotected toast ran it as a CD/DVD.

 

Same results.

 

 

Conclusion

 

I think I need to extract the registry information.

It was a long time ago I did this. How do I extract the information?

 

How do I do so it recognizes the DVD/CD drive & Toast mount?

What does the parameters mean?

 

Please help out with this port if you have some clues.

Test 3 - FAIL

I found a unofficial NO-CD version version and I added that version instead.

On Win7 it runs directly from the folder no problems what so ever.

Now I do not get any error messeges. The apps starts upp..goes to fullscreen and a mouse shows.

Now I cant do jack.

ALT+TAB did not get me back either..

 

 

I know that it was a shortcut to get Cider based games to Windowed mode can't remember how it was thoe.Do any one know?

 

 

Now I'm stuck, what do I need to do?

Please help!

 

EDIT:

Apperently several people get this problem with FarCry Cider port. Copy file to an other dir.

They solved it by coping the .app to an other place... but that did not work for me.

I also tried to set the "FullScreen" values in the config file to 0 so I could it running in windowed mode..but it still doesn't.. infact it goes to fullscreen anyway.

 

I am really stuck here.. Please help out!

 

If anyone would like to have the .app file I could send it.

It is 276 mb in size.
