Do you remember what you did exactly :'D?

So...

1 - in the BIOS, you have to disable the voice about sata, i'm not exactly remember the name.

2 - install a clean version of SnowLeopard Retail 10.6

(my wifi card was recognized during installation process)

3 - install the pkg in the archive, the bootloader in the archive so replace the boot file with the archive one and remember to put the com.apple.boot.plist file in the /extra directory.

4 - put the dsdt.aml file in the /extra directory, u can find it on the same archive

5 - upgrade the system to 10.6.4

everything works fine except for the battery status and for the sleep mode.

How did you install retail? No bootloaders or such on the disk? Just put in the dvd and install it?

  • 2 months later...

Followed the recommendations here and got my humble 6510b up and running with SL 10.6.4

This old machine is now faster than ever, easier to use and quieter than it has ever been. Everything works just perfect. Boot up time is about 1 minute from power on to the 'boing' sound.

As mentioned, sleep does not work. Installed Insomnia to prevent freezing if the lid is closed. Mostly because my 9 year old daughter is now using this old laptop. Created a handy "shut down icon" on the desktop, just a terminal "shutdown -h now" command, which make it easier for her to turn off the laptop in a hurry.

Also remember to turn off the sleep interval in the system panel, and a nifty schedule to turn off the laptop at a given time if it is forgotten to turn off.

Any chance editing the dsdt file makes it possible to get the laptop to sleep, and wake up?

Edit: Here is the lspci output, if it makes any help guiding me..
