FalloutX
Well, here's my situation. Downloaded a patched image of OS X 10.4.6, successfully installed it in VMWare on a VMWare Virtual drive, but now I keep getting a kernel panic when I try to load the OS. Here it is in a little more detail: Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace, Format - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0xb9db99c : 0x128aea (0x3b9dcc 0xb9db9c0 0x120c94 0x0) 0xb9db99c : 0x19c352 (0x3bf21c 0x0 0xe 0x3befd4) -- this continues for a while, if you want the exact listing of all of these, I'll give you 'em -- Kernel loadable modules in backtrade (with dependecies): com.apple.driver.AppleSMBIOS(1.0.6)@0x1bdda000 kmod dependecy scan stopped due to missing kmod page: 00000000 com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform(1.0.2)@0x1bc90000 dependency : com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(1.8)@0x1bc4a000 dependency : com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily(1.2.0)@0x1bc56000 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.4.1: Tues Jan 3 18:23:53 PST 2006; root:xnu-792.7.90.obj~1/RELEASE_I386 So, that's the error. Here's my hardware: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2GB PC3200 RAM nVidia GeForce 6600 Graphics 40 GB HDD (Master) 80 GB HDD (Slave) USB Mouse/Keyboard If you need any other details, let me know. FalloutX
I'm afraid I don't quite understand that link you provided. While yeah, it references the kernel panic, it seems that they're talking about stuff that doesn't apply to me. Forgive me if I'm misinterpreting it, but it doesn't look like there's much in that post that would benefit me, running off of a basic PC.
Colonel
is OSx86 on your primary drive?
FalloutX
OS X is currently installed on a virtual drive. If this is the issue - and I need to install it onto a physical drive - I should be able to do that without a problem. Hopefully, it should still work on my virtual drive. Also, I'm using OS X version 10.4.6, if that makes a difference. Probably does, since I did read there have been issues with this recent release. FalloutX
If this one just isn't gonna work, can anyone suggest a good (and hopefully currently seeded) Torrent of 10.4.3 or 10.4.4 and the best location to look for it?
FalloutX
Well, all sorted out. I scrapped the 10.4.6 project and just downloaded a VMWare ready pre-installed HDD image that I'm currently running. Works fine, albeit slow. I couldn't find much in the way of VMWare tweaks, so if anyone knows of some good tweaks for a VMWare Mac OS X, let me know! Thanks!

kristoff
Here is the solution to the vmware kernel stack problems with OS X 10.4.6 / 10.4.5: Do not use the Myzar or JAS versions. Use this file: MacOSX_10.4.6_GoatsecxDVD Choose 1 processor when booting. No config file modifications necessary. I hope this helps!
