badaxe2
This is how i got my D-Link DWL-G520 (Rev B ) working as airport extreme in snow leopard 10.6.2 (This may work for other cards that use the Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212 / AR5213 chip, just add your device id to IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros.kext/Info.plist) Download IO80211Family.kext .html'>here and unzip it to your desktop. Install the IO80211Family.kext with kext helper. Repair disk permisions with disk utility. Reboot. Go to system preferences and add new network device, should now show airport. Et voila
badaxe2
Just to add - This is working only in 32 bit kernel mode...
zarya
Only working in 32 bit mode huh. What about the update netkas wrote about? The 64-bit update for Atheros chipsets? I have yet to get it working on my Snow Leopard 10.6.2 retail install (AR5212 Atheros AB/G). Seriously, I am desperate. does anyone have any experience with this yet? Snow Leopard Retail 10.6.2 running on P5Q-PRO everything working except for sleep.
sheezo
Any updates on this with 10.6.3? If I add the 168c,13 line to the Info.plist, my systems freezes. If I try to restart, it won't load (gets stuck at the "Apple" Logo. Any idea what to do?

sheezo
IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros21.kext/Info.plist < add the same id to the following and you will also have 64bit I've added the line <string>pci168c,0013</string> to IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros21.kext (64bit) and also AirPortAtheros.kext (32bit), but nothing changed. Afterwards, I have changed the line to <string>pci168c,13</string> Boot in i386 mode: - Makes my system "freeze" (hangs up while booting, without error message) Boot in x86_64 mode: - Loads, but doesn't show me a AirportCard. Sometimes it freezes too, but when I boot it in -v it works.. - Kernel Panic when shutting down I'm using a Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR with the Kakewalk Installation on OS X 10.6.3. Also my card states Version "Rev. B 2". @atlee: Did you enable/disable HPET? How about HyperThreading? Any special BIOS Settings? Did you change the Chameleon Setting PciRoot to 1? You're on 10.6.3 with a Atheros 5212 Card?
himac59
I think it is: <string>pci168c,3a13</string> you should try

LatinMcG
its easier to mod the AtherosFix legacy kext with the id. so every time u update u don't have to re edit the .plist.
