Forgive my Mac ignorance...I'm a Newbie. Question is can I simply go out now (since OSX runs on intel) and purchase OSX and install in my PC (ibm, dell, HP ...etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

Apple currently doesn't sell an Intel version of MacOSX. It only comes with their new Intel computers.

However, the Intel version of MacOSX is only designed to work on Apple machines with a strict set of hardware. You do not have that hardware. So, it would take a lot of patching to get it to work.

But that is what this forum is about, getting MacOSX to run on generic Intel machines.

No, you can't go buy OS X for you PC. There are 3 reasons for this.

1. Apple only sells OS X for PowerPC right now, and that wouldn't work on an i386 computer.

2. OS X for PCs need special patches to run correctly, therefore, you would have to download.

3. It's illegal

I hope that makes things a bit more clear. :withstupid:

BTW, this is in the wrong forum. It should be in the Mac Forum.
