hi everyone! im glad to say i have a retail installation of snow leopard osx running on my modified gateway dx-4720-01h with asus p5qpl-am motherboard

problem now is that i dont have any audio or network capabilities, can someone tell me how to fix this?

Network cards on computer:

as reported in manual: Atheros L1E gigabit lan, windows driver reports it as a Atheros ar8121/8113/8114 pcie ethernet controller

Audio is built in as well, manual reports it as a ALC887 high definition audio chipset

tv tuner card drivers as well would be a help!

Any help here is requested and appreciated, also, seeing as im a noob when it comes to osx. can someone tell me how to install the drivers on it as well or do i have to do it during install?

Any help is appreciated!

Hi there, I have the exact same mobo & had no sound to start with as I didn't know which kext to use, I eventually tried

"VoodooHDA.kext" & audio was there, give it a try, im just learning myself all about installing osx86 so don't know much

but im pretty sure that will get you sound. :D

EDIT: Ignore me, I never read your mobo make properly, I thought it said P5KPL-AM not K5QPL-AM, sorry! :(

Hi, I also have a p5qpl-am board and i'm trying to install snow leopard using the empire efi boot method, but i'm stuck with the "still waiting for boot device" error. Could you give some info on how you manage to install SL on your pc.

Thanks

Marco

I bought a P5QPL-AM and struggled for 3 days to do a retail Snow Leopard install using Empire EFI and had all sorts of problems mainly involving ridiculously long install times (over 4 hours) and then failure to shut down fully and I nearly gave up with it, but after a lot of net trawling I came across this... http://prasys.co.cc/2009/09/boot-132-for-snow-leopard/ and after using a combination of the boot132 disc for Snow Leopard... http://www.mediafire.com/?zinzqoogjgz and then running myHackInstaller... http://osx86.sojugarden.com/2010/03/myhack...FINAL-released/ it worked a treat.

It did say "Install failed" when the install finished but I booted into SL again with the Boot-132 Disc then ran myHackInstaller and used the customization option and left out SleepEnabler.kext and installed IoataFamily.kext to suit me but it now restarts and shuts down perfectly. I don't use sleep so not tried but I guess that won't work.

Fully updated to 10.6.3 via downloaded combo update and then run myHackinstaller again before restart (may not be necessary but I did it anyway)

I used VoodooHDA for audio and got a LAN kext from Kexts.com for the AttansicL1e network adapter. I haven't tried the LAN connection yet as I did all updates via a wireless adapter but it shows up OK in Network Settings so I think it'll work OK.

Hope this helps...

Hi all,

I have my PC (asus p5qpl-am with geforce 7600 gt) running almost 100%. Only my webcam is not working and occasionally (twice in 48 hours) my bios/cmos gets wiped on shutdown/restart - I may need to look into DSDT, which I know nothing about, to fix that. Sleep works too.

I used the #####/##### method and it is by far the easiest method I've seen so far:

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html

Sound and webcam was working for me just after I installed 10.6.0 but after the 10.6.4 update/##### they stopped working. So at the ##### part, you'll want to select ##### to boot from your HDD and under Advanced Options, Kext > VoodooHDA to get sound working.

To get networking going, I used kexthelper and installed the AttansicL1eEthernet.kext linked below:

http://www.kexts.com/backup/index.php?cont...ard&mID=224

I believe it was the 2nd one that worked for me.

My machine has been up and under use for 3 days and so far working not bad aside from the bios/cmos issue. No crashes under OSX but I just used Google Chrome, Coda for some web design, Photoshop CS5 and I played native OSX Portal. I even have my Mac Mighty Mouse working with my cheap Bluetooth dongle I bought from Dealextreme.

How do you success to start the installation?
