Hey everyone, I have looked everywhere in this forum, and everything I find says my Device id isn't compatible and is a AHCI SATA enabled chipset.

My device/vender id is: 0x055010de

is there any hope for me to install osx?

P.S. I can install to internal HD fine, but then after installation on first boot I get "still waiting for root device"

Any helps is greatly thanked! :P

AFAIK your nForce 560 chipset is fully AHCI compliant, so see if Krishna21's guide works for you........... :D

I read through all your guides and krishna's guide. But I haven't had any luck. Another problem is that your guide is for intel based laptops. I have an AMD. I have an nforce 560 chipset. If possible, would you be able to shine some light on my issue, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=219734.

I realise that but apart from not being able to use the vanilla kernel (you need to use a non-vanilla SL kernel) and usually having to do manual CPUID patching using marvin's AMD Utility, the kexts used in /Extra/Extensions/ will be the same.......see here.......

I have managed to get a clean install of Leopard using iDeneb, but I can't boot into the OS. For some reason, it won't recognize my hard drive. It gives me the error below. So even if I use your guide, krishna's guide, or arya guide to install Snow Leopard, will I still end up with the hard drive not being detected problem? Will I have to add my device id to the kexts you have uploaded?

Try this AppleNForceATA.kext in your Leopard OS X /System/Library/Extensions.........install it using Kext Helper b7.........also see here.........

I injected the AppleNForceATA.kext you gave me, and still ended up with the same problem. But I don't understand why I need to inject AppleNForceATA.kext? I thought my chipset was fully AHCI compliant??

Anyways so what I did was went to Krishna's guide which you posted and injected all the kext files he uploaded into my Leopard install. I ended up with more errors. I have uploaded the verbose output.

I am little unclear about what is and how to do CUPID patching thing you mentioned.

I am gonna give a quick rundown on my current situation. I am trying to get Leopard installed since most Snow Leopard installation guides require you to already have Leopard installed. My mobo's device ids are: 0x055010de (AHCI SATA Controller) and 0x0560 (AHCI PATA Controller). I don't have an option to enable AHCI in my BIOS

The original iDeneb distro doesn't recognize my hdd, so I had to injected a special AppleNForceATA.kext into the iDeneb v1.5.1 distro. Then I managed to get a successfully install, with the following options selected:

Kernel: 9.5.0 voodoo kernel

ACPI Fix

AppleSMBIOS Drivers: AppleSMBIOS 667 Mhz

PS/2 Drivers: ApplePS2 Old

Fix: Idlehaltfix, Seabeltfix, IOUSBFamilyFix, SD/SDHCI Drivers

audio:AppleAzailiaAudio

Chipset: MCP67

Ethernet: nForceEthernet

Wireless: Broardcom wifi

System Management: VoodooBattery Manager

Video: NVinject 0.2.1 NVinject 128MB

After install, I couldn't boot into the OS, I got the following error:

Waiting for boot volume with UUID...

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

img0665p.th.jpg

There is some confusion over the MCP67 chipset, as some have got it to work with a patched AppleNForceATA.kext, whereas as it is also reported to be AHCI-compliant...........so I was just covering all bases.......

Krishna21's 630i install guide is for Snow Leopard NOT Leopard!......hence the verbose boot error messges..........

Regarding your Leopard install:

Waiting for boot volume with UUID...

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

I am still working on getting Leo4Allv4.1, it is taking forever to download. But I will give macky_reddy's Extensions.mkext file a try.

One thing I have been pondering. macky_reddy posted an Extensions.mkext file. I am guessing I have to replace it with the one in the Leo4All's distro. I don't understand how this Extensions.mkext file will help me fix my problem? Based on my understanding, during installation from a install DVD, the actually files installed onto the hard drive come from DVD/System/Installation and not from the Extensions.mkext. I noticed a lot of people with my chipset had problems having their hard drive recognized when they go into Disk Utility from the install DVD. So people (including me) modified the AppleNForceATA.kext and AppleVIAATA.kext then installed Leopard. Maybe I am guessing thats what macky_reddy's Extensions.mkext file contains.

So in the end, will this Extensions.mkext really help me?

Okay great news!!! I got Leopard installed and successfully running with Leo4Allv4.1 and the modified Extensions.mkext file uploaded by macky_reddy'. I will post more details/guide on how I got it running later.

@verdant- Now, I am trying to get Snow Leopard installed. I am not sure about the steps I need to take in order to do this. Do I follow Kirshna's guide or ayra's guide? Most likely ayra since I am gonna be using a non-Vanilla kernel. But what about the Extensions? Do I use the Extensions that Krishna uploaded? Or do I have to get different ones?

That is good news.......... :P

My guess is that in /Extra/Extensions/ you will need the following Snow Leopard kexts

fakesmc.V2.5.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

OpenHaltRestart.kext

PlatformUUID.kext (apparently not required if using Chameleon 2.0 RC4)

plus at least the Leopard MCP67 AppleNForceATA.kext and IOATAFamily kexts but try to keep the number of extra kexts to the minimum required for SL to run.........and boot using arch=i386 in com.apple.Boot.plist with the Chameleon 2.0 RC3 or RC4 bootloader installed...........
