OS X Leopard as a Guest on VMware Fusion 3 & Snow Leopard

Hi I am new here and thought I'd start by posting my challenging question.

Read lots about running OS X as a guest in VMware Fusion 2, mainly talks about, some references to v3 talk about editing out EFI to Bios in the .vmx file.

Tried loads of methods to try and get my setup working but not having any joy.

I wondered if the answer to the following setup exists and is tested and proven:

I am running Snow Leopard (Retail) with Vmware Fusion 3 (Retail) and have my original Leopard install DVD (also retail).

I want Leopard on a VM so I can attach to a company share using SMB which I am informed fails under Snow Leopard, something to do with authentication parsing incorrectly. Anyway, as a short-term fix if I can downgrade my Mac without downgrading as in running older OS X in VM, then I'd be a happy camper.

Any ideas, links and tips much appreciated.

Regards, Doozy
