A Nonny Moose
You have to read it to believe it Yes, MS has now blamed other operating systems for Windows based viruses. If all their systems were running something other than Windows, there wouldn't be any visues on those systems!
Metrogirl
That's priceless! Not our fault, guv, you should have all Windows systems so they can all get sick...
gwprod12
Linux is based on the idea that it's users will have a big clue how to administer their computers. Windows is based on the idea that it's users will be somewhat intelligent and can buy or download an antivirus (though really an antivirus should come with windows) Mac OS is based on the idea that the people who buy it are probably too stupid to actually be able to turn it on. Tech Support Rep: "What version of Mac OS are you running?" Customer: "What's Mac OS?" Tech Support Rep: "It's the operating system that allows you to use your computer. When you start your computer up, it says 'Mac OS version whatever' on it. Do you know what version it is?" Customer: "It's Apple." Tech Support Rep: "Yes sir, Apple is the manufacturer. In order to address the issue you're having with our software, we need to know what version of Mac OS you're running." Customer: "It's Mac. What's software?" Tech Support Rep: "Software is what you click on that doesnt work that makes you call our company and get me" Customer: "I clicked on Mac" Tech Support Rep: "When you clicked on Mac, did it tell you to call us for technical support?" Customer: "No, it said call Apple, but your CD case says to call you if I cant get online" Tech Support Rep: "I am not sure what your problem is. Can you explain further?" Customer: "My computer isnt turning on" Tech Support Rep: "Is it plugged in?" Customer: "No, should it be?" (This is a transcript of an actual call I had, way back in the days of Tier III Support)

(This is a transcript of an actual call I had, way back in the days of Tier III Support) And sometimes they are... I get a kick out of listening to all the stupid people try and get theyre {censored} fixed whial I am waiting for my appointment in an hour for them to tell me that my ipod is broken (no s h i t ?) and replace it under warenty for one of those crappy referbs. The guy in front of me asked "what is this flashing light on my laptop and why wont it do any thing" and the guy replied "because you put it into sleep mode and you have to pull the computer out of sleep mode before you can use it" and the customer went "oh...." oh, and by the way, its hackers faults that there are windows viri. there are less viri for other operating systems because windows holds the bigest marketshare and more people us it than the other two by far, so hackers know that alot more computers will be effected by a windows virus then an osx virus or a linux virus. Its not one or the others fault, and its not there own fault, I think it sounds very uneducated to blame microsoft for the ammount of viri on windows, but go ahead and blame them for bugs, there are lots of those, thats why i am not moving to vista until sp1. bwhsh8r
SenVa
Even if someone made a linux virus it would only really effect a few distros... and wouldn't really be effective for all archs... OSx viruses are more likely to be made... but the problem is with the lack of macs it would take for ever for a virus to spread from mac to mac... and by the time the virus starts to really start infecting computers there will already be a fix / anti virus update... BaselineAce
Why is this not surprising?
sandmanfvrga
Dear God. The virus was for Windows boxes, but LINUX was the problem. Oh yeah, good job MS. Lets put MORE Windows boxes out there so viruses spread faster. That will really solve it. *sigh*
