I just installed 10.4.8 on my Laptop this morning. Its a Toshiba Satellite A100-PSAA8C-TA702C laptop that I want to install MACOSX onto. So i read up a lot about this, tried it on VMWARE and it all worked. Installed it on my laptop and it says that it installs fine.

When my laptop reboots, it gets past the BIOS check and then does nothing. I get a blank cursor on the screen and thats it. Im just a little confused onto what to do so can anyone help me out?

The system seems not to boot.

You need to make sure: 1. disk and partition bootable, proper flag =1. permissions fixed, etc.

2. bootloader ok?

3. Try boot in -v verbal mode when bootloader starts: this shows what goes wrong.

4. kexts missing?

My impression is the system does not boot at all. Why not install 10.5.5 or later? More mature methods are available!

Sorry to bump this topic, but I'm having a similar problem, I installed 10.4.8 onto my USB so I can boot it from my USB since I don't have an external DVD drive to install from. I tried cloning my Hard Drive using SuperDuper (I'm guessing I needed to use the Restore option from my USB to my Hard Drive. That process went okay but whenever I select my Hard Drive to boot from the BIOS it just goes to a blank screen with the "_" blinking. I've gone through a tutorial with using Fdisk and that seems to have gone correctly but still getting the same problem.
