No keyboard/Mouse

I managed to install SL on my Hi-Grade laptop, the method I used was to use Leopard to restore SL to my external USB drive which I then booted from, SL installed fine and on reboot I boot into SL via my external USB's bootloader. However, when SL fires up my laptops keyboard and mouse fail to work, and pluging in my G15 doesn't work as SL doesn't detect it.

If I turn off legacy USB though, my external USB drive is not found in the BIOS so I cannot boot from it, so I'm stuck in a catch 22 situation, I need to disable legacy, but if I do that I can't boot, so I need to enable legacy to boot but if I do that I can't use my keyboard!

Is there a way for me to get the keyboard working so that I can finish off the process and boot from my hard drive, if I can do that I can disable legacy.

/edit - Fixed it, sort of. I booted with -s which let me fire up my G15, typed exit which took me to the SL desktop and I was able to install the boot loader onto the hard drive so now SL would boot, except that instead it crashes, oh well, almost there :(
