Note: this guide applies only ton Intel processors, it should work with nVidia 6x00, 7x00 & 8x00 series GPU's

After many tears, and hours of searching (thanks to the awesome osx86 community) I was finally able to get my video card working, I’ll share the method I used in case it helps someone.

Start by downloading the necessary files

EFI Studio : http://www.mediafire.com/?xl19omzld9j

NVidia Kexts: http://diabolik1605.com/DHF/Installer/NVid...s-Kexts.pkg.tbz

Thanks to wicked cool DiaboliK may he live forever!

Next thing, obviously, is to backup our Extensions folder incase something goes terribly wrong.

Just drag /System/Library/Extensions to your desktop

You’ll need to fire up a terminal for these next steps, but its nothing very complicated.

First we go admin

sudo su

cd /System/Library/Extensions

then remove existing nvidia drivers

rm "r Ge*.*

rm "r NV*.*

rm "r Nv*.*

Great! You can close the terminal now.

Run the installer ( NVidia-Leopard-Graphics-Kexts.pkg )

And last, but not least, since QE won’t work without this last step: Add an EFI string for your video card with EFI Studio

Device=Display

Then select your model and vmem size eg: nVidia GeForce 8500 gt " 512MB

Hit “add device” and then “write to com.apple.Boot.plist” in the popup window.

Note: you’ll need a to have Chameleon boot loader installed to add efi strings, but you’ll be happy to know, that if you installed using iPC, Aikiatos, iDeneb, or similar you already have it.

That’s it! Reboot and enjoy the beauty of a fully hardware accelerated desktop.
