Kernel Options for 10.6?

Hey guys,

I apologize if this is a bit of a noob question.

I've been running 10.5.6 for a long time now on my XPS laptop, everything works great. Originally when I attempted to do the install way back when, I was unable to get it Vanilla working...mostly kernal panics.

Unfortunately, I don't remember what kernel I DID get working (was mostly trail and error) but I'm just wondering if there is a modified kernel out there to run 10.6. I'm thinking perhaps its MoH 9.6.0 or something.

I've tried doing a retail installation as per some of the tutorials around with Chamelon RC2, and the retail disc won't even boot I just get a Kernel panic from the Darwin 10.0.0.

Does that mean I will need a modified kernel?

I'm just wondering if I have any options?

Sorry if I am unclear and making absolutely no sense, I'm still rather a noobie just getting back into it.

Thanks!

PS- these are basically my specs http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...ables#XPS_M1730

Anyone know if it is compatible with a Vanilla kernel?
