non sequitur
anyone know if it runs better in osx than in xp?
cyclonefr
Well well, it works fine here, though it's slow as hell running it everything maxed while in Windows the speed is ok... Now, if I low down the graphics, the game is playable but really ugly compared to the Windows XP version... Might be because I have a SSE2 processor ? I really don't think so it makes me lose so much performances under an universal binary game, but you never know : anyone who has Call of Duty 2 MAC + an OK video card + SSE3 processor, please tell me how it performs everything maxed, but I am pretty sure it's slow because OpenGL implementation on OSX is really poor unfortunately... But it's a good thing it works flawlessly
JaS
finally . Ill get it and test it out tonight @cyclonefr there may be a lot of sse3 instructions in the game

AMD Athlon 3500+ venice SSE3 X1800GTO (boris method) 1GB RAM Realtek 880 Audio (azalia kext) MacOS X 10.4.5 Myzar install, manual SSE3 install

AMD Athlon 3500+ venice SSE3 X1800GTO (boris method) 1GB RAM Realtek 880 Audio (azalia kext) MacOS X 10.4.5 Myzar install, manual SSE3 install i think you'd be better off in windows lol, i ran call of duty 2 on high w/ 2x aa on my 6800 gto* (all on high) @1280x1024 w/ no lag. the only thing i did was buy an arctic cooling silencer and cranked my gt from 350/1000 to ultra levels (400/1.1). also, if im not mistaken, the x1800 gto can give the 6800 gt an a$$ whopping and your cpu (3500+) is much better for gaming than my 3.4ghz p4. * the 6800 gto is an oem card, it is basically a gt but with 4 pipelines locked. i managed to unlock them w/ rivatuner and got 16/6 @ 350/900. with the nv silencer 5, i cranked up the clocks to 400/1.
munky
CoD2 rox0rs on my box0rs Not quite as fast as windows, but dammit, it saves me rebooting (Intel D945GTPLR / X1800XL PCI-E 256Mb / Pentium D920) EDIT: I just tried CoD (ie the first one, which is powerpc only) and HOLY {censored} it runs well. Rosetta rocks!

neztik
anyone test the game on a legit Mac? This thing runs awesome on my iMac 20" Intel. I picked the widescreen. And run at 1024x768. It plays perfectly.

MacApprentice
X1800GTO (boris method) I'm really interested by this card, how well does it works under OSX? no tearing?
munky
My X1800XL PCI-E works incredibly well. Boris method makes it just like a fully-supported card (only issues are sleep doesnt work, and dual displays dont work). Other than those, its k-sweet. Resolution changing, rotation support, QE and CI smooth as anything, OpenGL flies etc etc. I played Call of Duty 1 and 2 last night, and you'd be hard pushed to know it wasnt running on Windows. Its a GeCube X1800XL PCI-E 256Mb GDDR3 btw.
MacApprentice
Oh my... gotta get that X1800GTO I saw yesterday ; I don't really care about dual head support but can you switch between the 2 output without reboot?
cyclonefr
everything by default but in 1024x768 4x aa makes the game run slowly when lots of models are at screen (like at the very beginning of the game, when you see the russians soldiers). So is it slow at that very first part of the game on your hackintosh, you SSE3 users or not ? If not, then I guess, SSE3 all the way !
G5rocks
runs nice 1680x1050 maxed out, and absolute perfect 1680x1050 setting a bit lower (without shadows and fsaa) - G2 dual 2.5 geforce 6800 ultra. interesting that that in multiplayer i'm allways one of the first who enters a new loaded map. can't wait for new patch that gives multi cpu support
Tush
Ive benn playing with cod2 for a week now, and its fast as HELL on hackintosh./X1600pro, P4 3ghz, 1gb ram, LCD - 1280*1024/ No bug or anything.Awesome!!

munky
MacApprentice: I've never tried to switch between displays. I have only one monitor But yes, CoD2 is really fast and runs flawless. Its maybe not *quite* as fast as the windows version under xp, but who cares? It saves me from having to reboot. I do have SSE3. My spec is: Intel D945GTPLR / Pentium D 920 / X1800XL 256Mb PCI-E. non sequitur
hmm, if i have 50 bucks burnin a hole in my pocket i might check it out... by the way, who all plays cod2? i think it would be fun to give out our names and server ips so we could play. my in game name is =SGI=LeapingLemur. xfire for anyone who wants it (windows only ) is leapinglemur. AREOS
Oh my... gotta get that X1800GTO I saw yesterday ;I don't really care about dual head support but can you switch between the 2 output without reboot? You make a good choice its a great card, I suggest to buy the one from gecube, I saw after I buy mine that if you flash that card you can get a full X1800XL, and no Intel Mac has so much power like a 1800, and it's fully supported except for the sleep thing. 1800GTO 30% more than any x1600XT. I run quake at 1280X1024 ( it's the max setting for my 17" crt monitor), in the intense battles gives me ~35 and 45 FPS!!! good luck
MacApprentice
Thx for the GeCube thing, I'll look into that this WE (I don't care about sleep mode)
