Hey Proto those are bitswaped

Edit: Also, Shoarthing pointed me to this tutorial which looks very helpful.

WOW that is a great guide...  Wish I found it earlier!

How far did you get?

Could you verify this is accurate to what you have?  Another set of eyes always helps!

Everything looks to be right. I didn't get very far, just started today. Take a look at the link to the tutorial i said in the previous post. It's much more detailed and contains a possible way to fix audio via the DSDT.

Edit: It's post #399

Yeah...  I found that article a bit too detailed...  I really hope we don't have to go down that route...  The HEX above is in my DSDT right now...  Not that I am having any luck yet...  But its there and AppleHDA knows it...  I even have outputs (in system profiler only)...  But nothing to get excited about as its not working :-(  I am also getting many KPs on boot now with it...  Still have work to do.

I am NOT using HDAEnabler...  DSDT with the modified AppleHDA binay and update Info.plists

Did you try using HDAenabler along with AppleHDA? I was under the impression that you needed HDAenabler in order for Apple HDA to work.

HDAenabler is an alternative to using the DSDT from all I have read...

I tried HDAenabler and had a dummy device show up however with the DSDT I get pinouts showing and AppleHDA boot errors...

EDIT:

I can see that the AppleHDA drivers are loading in my IOR as well as these errors on startup:

10/22/09 9:39:52 PM kernel Sound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-174.1.1/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1459 goto Exit
10/22/09 9:39:52 PM kernel Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-174.1.1/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 172 goto ExitSound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-174.1.1/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1459 goto Exit

I am still working on it as I believe my layout is messed up...  I am still fuzzy on the layout piece.

EDIT:

I have now gone back to the stock non-hexedited AppleHDA kext since we are now dealing with the DSDT...  And I see the same issue causing KP on boot as a pasted above...  If I boot in safe mode I can get to the desktop.

EDIT:  ANY IDEAS?

I'm really not that informed on audio. Shoarthing seemed like he really knew what he was doing. Maybe we can get his advice.

Agreed... I have no clue what I am doing with sound either...  Seems like it was  ALOT easier in 10.5 than it is in 10.6...  In fact many things were easier in 10.5 it seems...

Well, the good news it that we have a dump from supervisa and flipped pin configs from you.

Here is the DSDT code I was playing with:

I guess that is where it  will be left for now...  I'll play a bit longer but hope someone posts some help here...  It seems there are a number of ways to go about doing this, some with the config in the DSDT and some not.

EDIT: for reference:

Lightsout565's flipped pin config added for good measure:

Thanks for putting in some time with the DSDT in relation to Audio.

What behavior were you getting when using the above DSDT ?

I assume no audio but outputs listed in System Profiler?

Exactly what I was getting...  I also made changes to a 6.6MB kext that I cannot upload...  I don't think it is of much use to have the kext uploaded.

I wish I knew what allowed some to work and others not to!  I really don't understand how all these device IDs (including our Wireless N cards) are already written in the Info.plist of the stock Apple kext and are even being shipped by Apple with the same IDs as far as I can see, yet they are not recognized.

I will probably pick this card up this weekend and let you know. I only have wireless G so even if it doesn't work I'll still get wireless N out of it.

It makes me think that this is not accidental.

To me... It seems Apple have introduced more detailed checking of the card's credentials before allowing it to be initialized and loaded.

The fact that the card works in 10.5.8 and not in 10.6 probably means that this is a new function within SL.

What values they could be checking could be anyones guess.

I guess we just need to bite the bullet and buy some of these cards to see if we can build a compatability list of PCI-e cards (half and full height)

It would be great Lightsout if you wanted to purchase this card and try it out in SL.

My BCM94321 should arrive in the next couple of days.

If only swapping out the Sound IC was as easy as a wifi card :D

I hesitate not getting a true Apple card for this reason like I have in my other 2 notebooks, however this card may be one of these that cannot be distinguished from Apples own.

It may just be a matter of tim untill we are choked out completely...  I hope not...  but you never know...  They have been making many changes that have delt much pain to the community as of late.   10.5.6 (hello DSDT!), 10.5.8 (much broke again), 10.6 (again MANY more checks and reworks).

I may bit the bullet and go with on of these as well http://cgi.ebay.com/...#ht_4381wt_1167

I have seen a number of signatures with folks running the...  None stating if they work or not, but that may be good.

EDIT:  I just bought the card above that I linked to.  The same one as LightScout's but new instead of used.

I have now relocated my half size card with built in BT to the full size slot and put one nice bead of low temperature hot glue through either screw hole.  This is very sturdy, clean and it doesn't look out of place at all.  The good news is that the BT module had no issue at all where it is and when our new cards come in we should be in business, provided they work as it seems other have them working.

With this in mind, it looks like we are now down to getting sound going for the major hurdles.

@ theproto : about Sound assertion, this is normal to have some, since you use Disabler or any similar thing. You only get rid of it when the system can load IntelCPUM (don't ask me why)
Your DSDT injection looks good. I'll try to work on it (if not too late when I receive my Mini 311c (ordered in France then transferred  to UK where I live)
Now it's all about injecting the right thing to AppleHDA. You seems to be close. just take a look at the Injector I made for ALC272 (NB200)

About PCI recognition, the issue is probably related to a ProbeHardware included in 10.6 kext. They included one in R8169 kext, and thus the Gigabyte RTL8168 kext is rejected by the kext. "ProbaHardware failed, unknow Hardware ID"

Today Psystar announced REBEL EFI. Maybe someone can give it a go? http://store.psystar...fi-preview.html

I got this from tweakers.net : http://translate.goo...history_state0=

You need a Snow Leopard DVD + external DVD

I did forget to mention that on this board all AZAD (note the D) devices need to be changed to HDEF.

Hopefully you get your 311 soon and can take a look...    From what I see in your uploads section you have some great accomplishments.

I've exhausted my patience with audio on this thing for a few days...

On the flip side, I do believe using the VoodooHDA kext with the sample rate at 44.1 AND HDEF in the DSDT like my attached and currently in DSDT has seems to work very well for sound effects.

However I am never content with just well...  I would like to know that all the bells and whistles are on and all is done right and native as possible :-)

I have not tried to listen to music yet...  Just the sound effects...

EDIT:  Top post now updated with latest archives - Try the archives as you may find that this is really finally coming together nicely...  Not a single KP in 24 hours of heavy testing (Sleep, swapping USB devices after wake, etc...) with the PC EFI 10.5 boot binary, DSDT we've built and other supporting files.   I see us all closing in on a fully usable netbook by the end of the month or very early November should WiFi prove to be a simple card swap with a Dell 1510 (shipped today).  I am really excited about this first real complete release archive to get this unit working.

EDIT: Be sure to add "-pci1" to the boot.plist as show below to allow PC EFI to find the PCI root, don't want to upload a new archive just for that today.
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>arch=i386 -x32 -pci1</string>

EDIT: Sound still sucks...  just suffers less static than before.

Just wondering Proto, How do you check what version EFI is installed?

Edit:
When watching a YouTube video the sound is pretty acceptable. I did find that changing the volume on the OS didn't do much good. I even muted the volume on the OS but the music still played!

Not really sure you can easily do so...  Maybe using the non GUI version...  I would say just install the latest, being Cham 2.0 RC3 with PC EFI 10.5.

I currently am using RC2. What do I replace on my Flash Drive from the RC3 Source Files?
