For audio, does the old method of AzaliaAudio + Audieee work on mini 311 with Snow Leopard?

Delete the AppleHDA.kext from /extensions
Reboot
Install AzaliaAudio.pkg -- http://www.mediafire.com/?enez1guzz1g
Reboot
Install CHUD tools -- http://www.mediafire...php?mzjlkm4idyb
Reboot
Audieee_1.0.1.zip -- google for it
Put the file in /Applications/Utilities and run it. Audio works now; use menubar icon to toggle (default is off). Add the Audieee application to your startup items.

Thanks!

Does the OS treat it as an airport card?

Yes - It came up as en2 and I saw it in the networks prefpane. Again, I am running 10.5.8 though. I can deal with limited audio and video but not without wireless.

Hmmm..

My card shipped on friday so likely I will have it next weekend to test. I am going to order the pigtail extensions anyway:

U.FL Male to U.FL Female 6" - 2 x @ $14.95
sku: UFLUFLEXT6

Subtotal: $29.90
Shipping : $8.95
Total: $38.85

WOW! This is expensive!!! I've already spend $30 on the card and now $40 on the cables!

Oh well... Life goes on... I would have bought an Apple specific WiFi card knowing what I know now about the half size Mini PCIe slot being whitelist filtered.

At least I have room to coil the slack in there now since there really is NO extra room.

On another note, I will be uploading the archives soon as they have been fully tested now.

Have you guys tried running the VoodooPS2 that's patched by another member on here for SL compatibility?

I have personally tried 6 different kexts with SL support, even used one of them on another notebook running SL.

------------------------------

On the ApplePS2 extension I am not getting the prefpane opened up. Can someone let me know what extension they are using to get this or if you installed a third party prefpane?

It seems there is a whitelist on the half size slot typically used for WLAN. HP loves the whitelisting :-)

I don't know but from my experience with HP, the system wouldn't just hang. You'd get a bios message stating about invalid hardware/pcie card. The card itself may be bad or not seated correctly.

To a point...

Usually you would get a message however with this new EFI firmware they are using and it being a new chipset, they may have not built all the logic in yet.

I'm sure he tried it many times too, but those are just my thoughts on that one...

What would the downside of having it in the full sized slot vs the half size?

Paying $40 for some extensions and filling yet another slot that you may have had plans for.

Thanks for the reply! Not to sound like a moron, but am i right in thinking that the extensions would run from the current antenna cables that run from the mobo, then attach to the new card? Is this because the current cables wouldn't reach the full slot location? (I dont have a 311 infront of me to tell, though im going to pick one up once the wifi deal is figured out for Snow Leopard

Worth a try, hope you find room :-)

I haven't ordered the extensions yet as I am still thinking about my options for the card I have in here now...

No, no problem, its because the cables can only reach the half size slot that appears to have an HP whitelist on it.

Yeah, I'm just gonna wait and hope that the stock wifi will be working in a couple weeks. I would just concentrate on WiFi, Why does it work in Leopard but not in Snow Leopard, etc.

The cables do NOT run to the motherboard. They are antenna cables. The PCI-E connector goes to the motherboard. The antenna wires most likely run up and around the screen.

It appears Apple has made significant changes under the book in the extensions and kernel department from probing to who knows what...

I am looking into the BCM kext now to find out what we may be able to do... I doubt I'll find anything though...

Is anyone else getting KPs after letting the 311 sleep for a bit and resume, maybe it take a few resumes but the KP will come?

I corrected the SMC key issue however I am still getting this... Can't put my finger on it yet!

EDIT: Talking about 10.6 or 10.6.1 on this one.

This shouldn't affect one of the Appleish cards (like the Dell 1510) or can the OS still tell the difference?

It seems as though there are more metrics that it now relies on. We are using hardware right out of Apple's BCM Info.plist. Even the 4353 in my device is listed.

EDIT: Top post updated with 24aOCT09 archive releases to address issue in the archives released earlier this morning relating to sleep giving a kernel panic 100% of the time on resume.
