I've done a Lifehacker-guide style install, retail Snow Leopard with the Chameleon boot loader and that's all gone fine.
I'm using an E7500 (3.0ghz dual core) and a 9800 GT, and I have a suspicion I still have something to 'fix' with the install before its performing properly. Basically I'm being outperformed by my Mac Mini by a just-noticable amount.
The Xbench scores are all over the place, the macmini essentially beats the hackintosh in every area except scores, whereas in actual usage the two machines feel very similar, but the Mini has a slightly quicker feel to the interface and scrolling around in bigger windows.
I don't know whether this is simply because I'm running in higher res on the hackintosh, or whether something just isn't optimised as well as the Mini. Right now the mini is at 1680x1050 and the hackintosh at 1920x1200.
Xbench and OpenGL results below (1280x960x32) for OpenGL as its the first resolution I can run the same on both computers)
Is there anything obviously wrong that I've missed? This is the first hackintosh build I've done and I'm not 100% whether there's much post-install configuration to do.
