tbar
Is there anyone using snow leopard that is having any success with the Radeon HD 3870 Video Card? So far I am only able to boot at all if I remove the ATI3800Controller.kext and the ATIRadeonX2000.kext files. Even then I have no resolution switching capabilities in system preferences, display. I have to manually set the desired boot resolution in the Boot.plist file and those choices are limited to Vesa graphics modes. So attempting "Graphics Mode"="1680X1050X32" the res I normally used in Leo 10.5 results in 1400X1050X32 in SL. I have tried all of the EFI strings available for the card. I'm mostly missing the dual monitor support that I have with 10.5.7. I don't really care that the card doesn't support OpenCL at this point. If there's any support in the works i'd appreciate hearing about it as I can't really afford a new HD 4870. I was also thinking about switching to an NVidia card but there are many complaints about their drivers also. Informed suggestions welcome! Thanks. lennypenn
...and what about this: http://www.kexts.com/view/95-radeon_4850.html Description/instructions:drivers voor Radeon 4850 en andere ATI HD kaarten Ikzelf heb die in gebruik met mijn R4850 eerst "7_radeon_hd_48x0_drivers.pkg" instaleren en daarna "Patched framebuffers for 48x0 and 3870x2.pkg" en daarna "QE_CI_Exotic_cards.pkg". Have you tried it? I have the same card and want to install 10.6. But I didn't yet, I just was collecting information. Now I am very sad to hear of your (and my) problems. Do you have some news?
