High CPU temp on Snow leopard

I managed to installed a vanilla snow leopard on my system:

Core2Duo E4500 at stock speed with stock HSF

Gigabyte P35-DS3

XFX 8500GT

4x1gb DDR RAM

The problem I have is that my CPU temp is running around 65C! I read that it has something to do with the nullcpupowermanagement.kext file which apparently has to be loaded for SL to run properly. Is there a workaround for this? Or am I looking at having to buy a proper HSF?

Thanks in advance for any input.

How are you measuring the temp ? within 10.6 ? My fan is very loud since SL install. Similar specs.

Thanks!

Go to /System/Library/Extensions and rename AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext and AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.....

cd /System/Library/Extensions
sudo mv AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.bad
sudo mv AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext.bad
exit
