Hacking the Installation DVD

I've discovered that by using hdiutil with the -shadow option you can actually modify the installation DVD image and it will still be bootable when you burn it. The problem is that although I've applied all the patches to it (coregraphics, oah750d, extra extensions from darwin, the IOHDIXController.kext) as well as patching in a recompiled darwin 8.1 kernel, it still says "This hardware configuration is not supported by Darwin/x86." If anyone knows what changes I should be making, let me know. Next I'm going to try shadow patching the darwin install cd.
